Can anyone steer me towards a website or references to knocked out tanks.
I need some reference for my Korean era diorama and I need to know what the best way is to model a recently blasted T-34/85. I dont want to model an exploded vehicle..cuz thats way beyond me at this point, but a nice burned vehicle, maybe still smoking would be nice.
Im trying for visual impact here, as i think this would be most eye catching.
Any help?

Squadron had a publication called simply "Armor in Korea". You might get that and look through the pics for what you need. Simulating smoke may present a challenge to you though. I've tried doing wisps of cotton and dog hair. (dog was gray)

in my experience its nearly impossible to recreate smoke realistically,
its best to just represent fire effects on the knocked out tank, such as black soot marks around hatches/openings and the shell entry hole.
remember that metal soon oxidises after burning so if your tank was knocked out a fewdays previously, then make it nice and rusty!
it often looks convincing to make any ground work or foliage around the tank appear burnt, btu this depends on the intensity that the tank went up.
hope that helps
cheers

Great Link Leo! They have some even better shots of destroyed German vehicles on the other page.
