Doh...thanks for catching that. Many fields to update now.

Not sure why I got it into my head this one was a 'late'.

Concur,
Informative video, as I have wanted to build a Merkava 3D that was not from Legend or worse, AEF Designs... Also, you need to feed those hounds though...

It's a sweet kit John. I started mine last night, should get some in-progress photos up soon. This is a great OOB build; I don't really see a need for after-market, well, maybe a figure or two and some stowage .

Hello Jim,

Well, funny video clip, and lots of "what the hek is this part"...
Any how "these" beautiful wheels are the IDLER WHEELS, remembering that the sprockets in the Merkava are in the front.
It is nice that you started with my collaboration with Meng...

Keep producing your funny reviews.

Mr Carswell,
You would have to tell me that... I am in the middle of assembling Bronco's T-158LL tracks, which rival ModelKasten's sets for complexity and number of parts, for a Thunder Run M1A1 build. Needless to say, after the vid and your endorsement, I am looking to move to a vehicle from a differant part of the Middle East.

Thanks Michael. Yes my brain is far too full of web development terms to try to cram new ones in (or remember those things I have forgotten about tank makeup, etc.). That said I never did know all those wonderful German words for tank parts either. I suppose I can live with that.

Cheers,
Jim

I really like these videos, except for the bad acting (just kidding) and they do give a good look at what to expect in the kit like the sprockets being all one piece like that. That is an advancement in molding I think.

I've always wanted one of these Merks and this company seems to have the way to go. At least I hope those tracks really do snap-together unlike the Bronco brand.

Thanks!

That's a very useful video review, thanks a million!

I'm not an IDF expert but I think i'll buy this kit...it looks simply stunning!

(...considering the quality, I REALLY hope that as announced some time ago, Meng will produce soon a T-90 family )

you have to excuse my ignorance, but i finally have to ask....
what is the hype over this kit? i would have to believe that it is something quite special if it gets a "unboxing" video.

Hi Jesse,
It's not really that special. We have been doing videos for some months on many new release kits and they did have a dedicated spot on the homepage up until a few days ago. As we are making serious changes to our feature area and eventually homepage, this video area was removed so the Merkava video got elevated to main feature status.

Here are the other videos: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=listbysectype§ype=265

Cheers,
Jim

Good vid Jim, thanks! For a fairly new company, Meng really seems to have it all together. This one looks even better than the Minenraumer, and I was very impressed with that one. Those idlers are a work of art from what I can see in the video.

Guess it's time to build my first Merkava

Has any one finished the build of this kit yet?
Really looking forward to see some build work photos before mine arriving.

It looks like a "shake and bake" kit. It took him just one week to finish the build, and he hadn't had to use the putty...Warpage problems could be annoying anyway

Many thanks for the link Mario

OK, you modern AFV guys: Hobby Boss Leopard or Meng Merkava? In terms of OOB perfection.

I guess if it's got me asking about purchasing, it must be a good video, LOL.

Thanks for taking a look inside that box for us, Jim!
I wonder about the tracks. Do they hold together well or do they tend to fall apart upon lifting them off the workbench (like e.g. the Hobby Boss tracks for the AAVP-7. The pain the lower backside!!!!).
I wonder if any of the fruil sets would fit. Can any of you Experten tell me which of the available Friul tracks would be the proper ones for this AFV? TIA
Secondly, what brand of paint are the instructions given in? Do the experts think that the given choice is OK and - if not - what would be the best choice of colour in Vallejo Air? TIA
Cheers,
Guido
