Hi all,I've some questions about the Hmmwv M1151.
1)Is it corret to say that the M1165 is basically a M1151?!
2)Can I use this set:
http://www.modelarmour.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1704:et-model-us-army-m1114-humvee-high-back-seats&catid=37:kits&Itemid=60
to detail the seat of the Academy M1151?!or is this set specific only for M1114?
3)If I can't use this set..can you provide me photos, links,or drawing with differences?!
4)When the M1151/65 are still in the assembly line...which are their colors?!I assume the the hood is not of the same material of the hood and so on.If you haven't photos(I've tried but with not much results)can you say me the colors(more or less)
5)The use of different tires....is it a standard iter,so for example : "a type in winter, the other one in summer" "Inside US/outside US" and so on with examples like these or is ther a free way about tires?!
Sorry for a so long post!!!!

Hi Ciro.
I think that you can use ETmodel set for high back seats, but those that comes in Academy kit aren't bad at all.
Most M1151's are painted in sand color(best match is 1706 MM Enamel Sand & 4720 MM Acryl Sand, some people mix Tamiya colors to get desired color) but some are painted in NATO Green - use Tamiya color. For interior I use NATO green(acryl) from Tamiya and for high back seats Interior Green(acryl) from Lifecolor.

Hi Marko,
thanks for the reply!
Great shot about the tires over Hmmwinscale!
About the colors,I don't mean the colours that we use to paint a model..I mean the colors of materials...I think that this photo is better than words.
So I suppose that different materials have different colours, then, when all is complete,an Humvee gets his own colour.
I would have pics in the assembly line....I've few...interior pics mostly but nothing about the exterior.
Cheers

Hi Ciro,
jus checked my archive, but found only two pics of the basic M998 on the assembly line(they are also black/white) Since the
chassis is made of Aluminium and composite materials, a kind of metal tone might be appropiate. The hood is made of fiber material and looks semigloss black on the pic.

Hi Ciro
Humvees are produced at Mishawaka AM General Plant. You can use this name name as a keyword for your internet researches and maybe you can find some interesting pics of the assembling line

Ciro
I'm no Humvee expert, and I'm afraid I can't help you much with your seats dilema...As far as I can tell, the M1114 seats appear to be the same as those fitted to the M1151. So it's up to you
There are some M1151 seats pics on PrimePortal for you to compare :

1. In a way yes, the M1165 & M1151 are the same. The M1165/M1151 share the same basic chassis and cab design but are intended for different purposes obviously. The M1151 is and Armament Carrier with its primary purpose being combat. The M1165 is officially labeled on the data plate as a 'Command & Control' vehicle. It purpose is intended as administrative/logistical type support on the battlefield. Also 'related' to the M1151/M1165 is the M1152 and M1167 TOW Carrier. These 4 vehicles are the current generation of HMMWV in use by the US military.
2. Here some views of a seat in an M1151 from an album on my website www.hmmwvinscale.com

M1114 seat image:
ET Seats
If you compare the M1151 and M1114 seat photos to the ET seats, the ET seats look close but two differences I see are
1. The top of the ET seats around the head area are to thin compared to the real seats.
2. The bottom cushions on the ET seats have a 'rim' around the cushion that you don't see on the seats in the M1114 or M1151.
Overall, if you are being a 'rivet counter', the ET seats don't look accurate to me.
However, there probably aren't many people that will look at your model and know the differences between the seats in a real M1114/M1151 and the flaws in the ET seats.
3. Already answered above.
4. Already answered by others here.
5. The US military does not change tires based on season. Tires only get replaced as needed for wear and tear. The only thing you will see done in the winter is the use of tire chains in areas that are prone to significant long term snowfall or ice accumulation.
