Hi Amin,

I'm also pleased with the Gunze Mr Color acrylic metal paints, and I'm using the Revell's aqueous silver, it is also looks really nice, and works well.

Best regards,
Istvan

I find the Vallejo metallics in the Model Air line to be very good, drop in your airbrush and go.

The one thing I find about them is that there isn't much color difference between the Silver, Aluminum, Chrome and Steel, however, you can always add in a drop or 2 of Gunmetal or Black metallic to darken slightly the other colors.

Here is a test shot of some of the colors......

They were all sprayed over Vallejo Black Primer, and keep in mind that the hue of the gold color has changed since I sprayed these, it is much darker and richer gold color now.

I am in Canada, so I can't comment on Revell Aqeos, as we don't get them here.

Being a Vallejo dealer, I may be a little biased, but it doesn't get much better that Vallejo for paint period, so no point in trying to find something "Better", I would just wait for the ones you ordered to arrive. You won't be disappointed.

it seems to me that there is only valejo left to talk about, as if its become a monolpoly of some sort.Surely there has to be "other" acrylics worth considering.

This is Tamiya acrylic Flat Aluminum, XF-16.
It looks pretty good, and of course Tamiya paints are nice to work with.

I would recomend looking for "flat" metal colors. With metalizers, the flakes stand out from the rest of the paint. As Jonathan said, Tamiya flat aluminum is excellent.

For anyone in the states, I would recommend Hawkeye's Talon acrylic paints. They are airbrush only and have specific directions to their application, but the finish you can acheive is near that of Alclad.

I use Tamiya acrylics for everything else. They look better than most acrylics, probably because they are alcohol based, and you can mix them easily to create various shades.

However, I keep a bottle of Mr. Color Silver, which is a lacquer, when I need a chrome like finish such as that on aircraft landing gear oleos or mirrors.
