While I'm waiting the decals for my Protected truck nº 4, I have begun this resin model of MARS. The model is excellent, perhaps the best resin model that I have seen in this scale. The pieces are very clean and sometimes you think the model is in plastic. Highly commended. The only problem for me are the assembly instructions. Complicated for a nobel modeller.

Regards.
Pedro.

Hello Pedro,
I also have this kit in my stash and I agree on your comments about the excellent quality.
Do you have any photo with a RO in german service (tri tonal camo maybe? )

Is there a kit out there of the 3RO with the 90mm gun mount? We've got one in the collection and I'd like to build one.
Thanks,

CRI.EL had released one in 1/35th scale, but I guess it's OOP... :

Jon.
Italeri makes a 1/72 Lancia RO 3 w 90mm L53 Gun. It is kit number 7508. It's not the greatest as it is in their "fast assembly" range for wargamers, but it is reasonably priced and in plastic.
BTW, since you're referencing a vehicle in "the collection" and you're in OK, I assume you mean Ft. Sill; correct? If so, do you have any pics of the real vehicle you might be able to forward to me???

Patrick,
Yep, I'm the Director of the Air Defense Artillery Museum here at Sill. We do have a real 3RO in the collection, but it's seen better days. It's #2 on my restoration list, but this year we went with restoring the only M1918 3" AA gun left in existence!
I'll see about getting some pics up in the next week or two. I'm TDY to Ft. Bliss all week, so the earliest would be a week from tomorrow.
I'll see if I can find the 35th kit, since I'm trying to get one of each of our weapons systems in 35th to lay out the new museum building plans. (Of course, they'll all be display models after we finish laying things out!)

Greetings Pedro!

I see that you are off building another unique vehicle and the model in your pictures does look very detailed. As always, I will be watching.

Very nice. Did you add any details or is it out of the box.
Looks odd that the steering wheel is on the right side....

You always have something interesting going on, you must have quite the braille scale muse. I love your work and it's a pleasure to see you sharing so much of it with us here. I was hoping to get started with some scratchbuilding last summer based on your tractor project, but life seems to be jealous of my workbench and keeps finding ways to keep me away
Just out of curiosity, did you add the bolt details to the forward driveshaft, or were they already cast in?

Thanks Daniel, Alexander and Jeremy.
I have made the model with the box pieces. I only have added the rear charge and canvas support.

Best regards. Pedro.

Hi Pedro,
Excellent work on the wire frame.
What kind of solder iron are you using?

@PedroA –Pedro,
For me this is an unusually ugly looking truck but it dose have quite an interesting appeal that I like in its ugliness. You’re doing a super job on this resin kit with all of your add-ons and fixes. I also like the canvass support that you created from what appear to be soldered copper wire? This frame helps draw attention over to the rear of the vehicle where you have fabricated some nice stowage. The interior looks a little worn but comfortable, just right for a ride down the countryside.
Now back to the frame, how did you manage to solder all of the cross sections so evenly? Did you make a fixture for this piece? Do tell . . .

Thanks Sonny and Eddy.
I have soldered the cross sections using tamiya masking tape.

For the CAMO I have used a paper stencil.

@PedroA – Pedro,
Simply outstanding workmanship! With that realistically rendered camouflage scheme and well-weathered exterior and stowage this actually looks like a much larger scale build.
I absolutely like the way you finish your tires, with just the right amount of road grim and dirt, yet leaving enough of the tire showing through to provide a splash of color to the overall camouflage sides of the vehicle. The cancerous rust eating away at the top portions of the truck bed frame and differing stowage colors is right on the money and helps to break up the single yellow colored bed. Someone is not taking good care of that engine. It needs to be steam cleaned!
Pedro, I think this has got to be some of your best work to date. I hope in my second life

I will be able to create something half as good as this!
Thanks for posting and sharing your builds here with all of us, waiting to see your next project.
