Hi folks.
I'm going to the LMS tomorrow for paints, for the late DAK camo scheme using the RAL colours in the title.
The problem is I've seen various 'official' interpretations of those regarding Vallejo MC numbers. I'd like to stick with Vallejo MC because I'm new to the hobby and want to 'get to know' a brand and how it reacts to thinning, spraying, etc.
What do you guys think I should get from Vallejo for RAL 7027 sandgrau and 8020 gelbbraun? If it makes any difference, it'll be going over a light grey primer.
Thanks for any help.

Hi
According to Vallejos own conversion chart
RAL:7027 has no match
RAL: 8020 has no match
You could give 70.866 Green grey and 70.880 Khaki Grey and 70.879 Green Brown a look as they are close. When I did mine i used the DAK set from DOA Paints and they are a very close match, I also think that Testors do a good match in their range idf you have access to them in your LMS.

Gavin;
Hey - haven't we exchanged elsewhere?!
OK - I don't have any Vallejo experience, so cannot speak to their versions or closeness. I can, on the other hand, speak to the Testor's ModelMaster stuff... It's pretty nice and is touted as being pretty spot-on for the matches... My fair-wide experience with both MM enamels and acryls has been very positive, and I really like how the enamels work. So count me a fan! I would give them a whirl if you have that option, as the MM line has specific colors for the DAK and later campaign in Africa, including both that RAL 7027 and 8020. I think you'll be pleased if you do (can).
Cheers!

Yes those numbers looked interesting. I'm going for 7/837 for the base and 111/987 for the 1/3 camo though. My reasoning being that although the numbers you mention are close too, they're actually already assigned to a RAL number; therefore the ones I chose (which are not assigned a RAL by Vallejo) could in fact be 8020 and 7027, if you follow - in my mind anyway LOL!
Also I think they should look a bit like Yvans image, and somewhat close to the first Pz III here http://www.armortek.co.uk/Forum3b/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2186, and not unlike the model further down that page.
You know, having trawled the net about this, I'm amazed that there were so many colour schemes in reality - due to different factories, field paint jobs, coats on top of different colours, etc. In all honesty, IMO, as long as the camo scheme falls within certain parameters nobody could say that it's not 'realistic'.
We need to stop meeting like this, that's how rumours start
Thanks everyone.
