Hi people !

Does someone tell me something about this weapon:

I know there is a Browning .50 machine gun, but what about this barrel ? Can I use one of this in my M-ATV or M1151 ?

If yes, I will wait for Live Resin.

Thanks !

It KIND OF looks like the new LW 50, or more accurately an M2 50 cal HB machine gun with a hellfighter IR spotlight on the air cooling shroud with an IR Night vision scope on the upper reciever

The one in the second picture looks like this one (without the NVS) at the 2009 Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition :

The Hellfire flashlight is fitted to a M88 Shield Barrel Mount :

Thanks Brian and Frenchy !

So this is only a new type of air cooling shroud and flash suppressor. (if i can understand). Had this shroud developed only to support the IR spot ? Or it is better than the old type.

Again, can I use it on my M-ATV ?

Thank you a lot !

In fact the barrel shroud stays the same. The flashlight mount base is just attached to it (just see the picture at the bottom of the PDF brochure). I don't why you could not put this upgraded .50 on your M-ATV, or your M1151 (even if a reference piture would be welcome ) ...

The shroud that is pictured in Frenchy's pictures are a custom attachment which will add a rail system to the .50 cal which the surefire light can be attached to. Here are a few .50cal's in serivce with the surefire hellfire light and as you can see they are not attached to the barrel

In theory yes it is usable as it is mount that is added to the .50cal but in practice it is not used from what I have found

You can notice that there's an extra cut-out in the gun shield because of the flashlight mount.

The sight on the receiver looks like the standard PAS-13 thermal viewer mounted to what i always referred to as the dove tail mounting bracket its been around for years the flash suppressor i have never seen before its not from the LW .50 and i have never seen the rail attachment in service most of that stuff is becoming out dated anyway as the army moves to the LW 50 and CROWS im not saying there not out there but if they are there pretty scarce and i dont think the stupid light would work on the LW 50 as it would interfere with the barrel lock

Thanks Bill !

The LW.50 is amazing and I first saw images after read your comment.

I'm still thinking about this "strange" .50.

Cheers !

The barrel lock? The light interferes with nothing, as it is mounted to the separate light mount, which itself mounts to the barrel support. (what some are calling the barrel shroud)
However, that extra mount is not required to mount the Hellfighter - it can mount directly to the barrel support.
I' ve never really figured out the tactical advantage of that longer separate mount. It just adds weight, and when you're the upgunner coming back from a long mission, taking the gun off by yourself can be hard enough without the exra weight.
As for the light being stupid, well...
I liked it enough. I could get people off the road from more than a mile away with it.
Hopefully it will prevent future accidents stateside. No one will say, "I never saw him coming."

it will interfere with the barrel lock on the LW 50, LW is the key here, it will also interfere with the barrel lock on the newer HB .50( head spacing and timing not required)as the barrel lock is now located on the barrel support and not on the barrel extension located in the receiver.it does seem kind of silly to have a light mounted with thermal optics but it looks cool, although it looks cooler mounted on your bike

The pictures don't work, but I am assuming the flash hider is the B.E. Meyers .50 caliber flash hider.

Thank you again guys !

The chopper with hellfighter IR spotlight is amazing.

I did not imagine that simple question has opened a big discussion.

It is good to talk to people that really use this machines.

Thanks !

Here's a bad picture of an M-ATV with an M2 mounted with the B.E. Meyers flash hider. Also note the locally fabricated ammo box extension. Sorry it's blurry, it's the only one I took of that truck apparently.
