Hi all,
I'd like someone to explain to me please what effect Lifecolor's "tensocrom" paints (and medium) achieves ... everyone says they are good/great but I've yet to read a review that nails down what it actually DOES for a model.... ....does it 'modulate' the paint ?? .... something to do with varying the surface tension of the paint ??
Cheers
Carl

Hi Carl,
The best description I can give for the Tensocrom is that they are filters. They do need to be airbrushed at low pressure and the effect is subtle. The layers can be built up to provide an opaque finish or used to provide a transparent effect. I have not used the medium yet but I am sure that experimenting would yield interesting results.
I hope this helps
Brian

Hey Carl,
I have the tensocrom set, but have yet to make an opinion on them. :-)
Used the smoke, fuel, sand and oil bottles, which worked great.
I airbrushed the smoke, which you can see on my JS II , used the oil and fuel straight from the bottle, again the JS II and my Matilda.
The sand wasn't really what I was expecting... Also airbrushed, but I prefer pigments for sand.
I'd say, buy a bottle and experiment.
Dave

Thanks Brian, if it is a wash as you say, then fine I'll bare that in mind..... but I find myself scepticle when a manufacturer markets their product with an invented name where it's true asset is so ambiguous/indestinguishable from their regular line of paints.
Dave, I have also got the set and have done some experiments; ..... just brushed straight from the bottle onto stock card.... and I really wonder if I've been had at this stage with no discernable qualities, but not tried AB yet, so we'll see !
Cheers
