To ALL who are interested in painting and detailing German / Japanese / Italian figures, uniforms, personal equipment and smaller weapons... and want some good color reference photos to work from...

A visit to my local Barnes & Noble Booksellers yesterday yielded an astonishing find!

David Miller's "Fighting Men of World War II - Axis Forces: Uniforms, Equipment & Weapons" (Miller, D, 2010, Pepperbox Press Ltd. 2011 edition publ'd by Chartwell Books, Inc. ISBN 13: 978-0-7858-2815-0 ). At a discount price of USD $19.98 (reg 49.95).

This is a large-format "coffee table size" hard-cover picture book laden with heaps of large color pics of "the real stuff", together with some OK detail text. Want great pics of German gas-mask cans, canteens, mess-kits, rifles, MG, etc.? This book has them! Ditto for loads of stuff from the other Axis powers, as well as some bits and pieces from lesser players.

Check out this book at B & N or elsewhere!

I second Bob's recommendation, it's a great resource. There is an allied edition as well by the same author. If you have an Ollie's Bargain Outlet nearby, they have been selling both books for $12.99 (I picked up both editions at the Hanover, PA store).

The Ollie's down here in NC had them as well... at least they did about 3 months ago when I picked up my copy. The Axis book is great!
