After all the progress pics so far, I found more motivation to keep building. The twing sound of the flying PE parts finally wore me down. I decided to stick to the KISS mentality...keep it simple stupid!

I really need to attach that roadwheel!

The latches for the front stowage boxes came out decent though

I'm going to try Tamiya's fine primer now...should help cover all the AM parts

@Jeff B--yup, that us one efficient, and mean looking, vehicle. Very nice work. What do you use for your tow cable?

OK, I'm in for this too. I have too many kits languishing in the dungeon to not do this. What a great way to get off my backside and actually finish some stuff.

I'd
really like to enter this, but it doesn't seem likely I'll be able to afford it anytime soon.

I'm with you on that 1/6 kit there Kevin. I want one to add to my other 1/6 items.
Oh, and welcome to the Campaign!

Thanks Jeff. I'll get one of those Flak guns one of these days, that's for sure.

I'm contemplating a 37mm Flak 43 replacement barrel from RB Models. Has anyone ever ordered from them before?

glad everyone like's the build ! I only used a 3rd of the PE set..
Keith- the tow rope was included in the kit ! I was surprised the lack of the second rope commonly found on the rear
The "3 fingers of death " found a can of Tamiya primer..now the fun begins...lot's of sand paint!
Unfortunatly a soaking of "Blacken-it" didn't go well...suspect even after washing w/ dish detergent, oil remained . I have several ugly bare spots. Would a vinegar bath been better ?

Jeff: Nice looking SAM. Yours is turning out much better than the one I did for the last AA campaign. The resin missiles help that kit a lot.
As for the Fruils, yes, a white vinegar bath is the best prep for them to get the machining oils and form release off. I've not tried Blacken-it, but have used Gun Blue with success, although they need a bit of scrubbing after their soak time.
Kevin and Johnny: Nice looking kits and interesting topics. Welcome aboard.
Happy Modeling, -zon

Yes. It's a nicely-done barrel with a super-cool-looking flash-hider. And very reasonably priced, generally. Buy one if you can - I doubt you'll be anything other than pleased!

Great, thanks Bob. It seems like little cost for a large improvement.

JagdTiger46, I have used RB models' barrels previously. The muzzle brake has a few pieces to put together. Washers and such, may have to go to a different web site ie. Aber to get the proper placement of these items. I usually obtain the barrels from The Barrel Store.

OK, I know next to nothing about the Flak 43 or where/when it was used, so what type of paint scheme might be appropriate?
Thanks fellas,
Kevin

OK now, many major sub-assemblies have been cleaned up and assembled. Barrel will be replaced, and is just inserted for photo.

I'm also considering a small scene such as this, but I either need a larger base, or just not bother at all, as I feel this base would be too compressed. Thoughts?
