I have a partially built Academy Minicraft Panther G,kit # 1320, in my stash. I'm pretty sure it's a re-box of a very early Tamiya kit. I bought it in the 1980s, when there was nothing new coming out in 1/48 armor, so you jumped on whatever you could find, hoping to be able to get some use out of it,scratch-build, etc.I'm not a Panther expert, but the upper hull and turret seem workable, maybe not as a G ? The wheels seem crude, probably reflecting it's original design as a motorized toy. Is it worth working on this kit, or does the current 1/48 "Armored Renaissance"render this kit completely obsolete?

Build it! Practise your skills like weld seams or weathering effects.

Then after several builds later, you can toss it or start over with trying something new.

Most of my builds started out as "Gate Guards" but then I would pull them out to try something to learn on before that better high dollar kit I am to build.

It's obsolete RIP. Doesn't mean you can't practice on it as Jeff said or give it to a kid.
