Hi Guy's,
I am in the process of painting a black paner uniform & am wondering what would be a good slight fading colour, I am using lifecolour paints as the base, i have so far tried a brown / black, I thought using a light grey for highlights / dry brush would be to pronouced so was thinking maybe a light dry brushing of paner grey to impart fading on the uniform & then lightly lighting it again with a medium gray into the panzer grey. But if anyone has any better ideas I am all ears!!
Cheers Mike

In the past I have added a little blue for both highlights and shadows. I have found that with black, the blue adds a little depth.

When ever I paint something black I use dark grey and then use black for the recessed areas. For the higher areas I use the base color with a little white mixed in. If you want fading, start out with a lighter color as your base and use correspondingly lighter colors for the highs and lows. One mans' solution.

You can also dry brush the raised areas with a dark grey. I use MM dunkle grau enamel or Tamiya's NATO black. Floquil weathered black works well, too. Not all black is the same color. You could shop around for a darker black. I believe MM/Testors make the darkest black available.

Hi
For the highlight colour I add a little flesh colour to the base colour mix.
For the base colour I use a very dark grey
I use black for the shadow areas.
