Spielberger's Sturmgeschutz and Variants has interior hull photos of the Ausf F/8 during the assembly process that might be helpful depending on what you're looking for. Also includes cut-away side-on line drawings from the left side looking in that show you the layout of the interior. Also includes highly detailed photos of the StuK 40 gun.

Also includes detailed photos of the interior of an Ausf E including one that has the gun in position but with the superstructure removed and crewmen in position. Other photos provide multiple detailed top-down views into the fighting compartment interior if that's the kind of thing you're looking for on earlier variants.

Cutaway diagrams are provided for the earlier short-barrel variants Ausf A and D which show some of the design changes to the casemate layout.

HTH!

Thanks Bill, I shouldve mentioned I have that book. It just doesnt show things clear enough to scratch build an interior. Im looking for clearer photos like the ones of the Ausf G in the Achtung Panzer and squadron book. I justw asnt sure if any existed for anything before the G.

I hear you Tim, it's tough to find interior shots for many vehicles. Maybe someone else has some references they can provide?

The interior didn't change all that much with the different StuG variants...biggest difference is in the ammo storage for the short 7.5cm vs. the long and of course the changes in the casemate superstructure design depending on which variant you're looking at.

Good luck!

Hi, Tim
Maybe these pix will help a little. Sorry, they are not separated by StuG modifications; you will have to add your own research there

hey thanks for postin those. any idea what book those are from? One particular part Im trying to figure out is the drive shaft housing. In the E-F chassis it appears the fighting compartment floor is flat, meaning the shaft is lower,or the floor is higher in the F vs on the G which has a box around the drive shaft running down the center of the floor. Any photos Ive seen of the F the view is blocked by the gun assembly. Side drawings show basic lines of the shaft, but dont show its relation to the floor.

Achtung Panzer No.5 - Stug III, Stug.IV & SIG.33

I am confused about the drive shaft question - what are you asking? You cannot see the drive shaft. it is under the cover. The floor is pretty much on the same height in all the models - just above the tension bars. The shaft itself is pretty high relatively to the actual bottom of a vehicle.
