Hello all,

Is this photo real? This is the only photo of a 251 with a squeeze bore gun I have found:

Some of the front plate areas look like they have been photoshopped. Also, why a "WL" license plate?

DML seems to think it is. Many reviews noted this was an inaccuracy of the kit. While it may be rare, it does look neat. I have seen this gun mounted on the sd kfz 250, but have only seen the above photo with a 251.

Mark;

I cannot argue for or against the veracity of the pic you posted, but the 2.8cm Sch.PzB 41 gun did get onto Sd.Kfz. 251... Not as a standard installation, unlike on the smaller SdKfz 250 (the 250/11, I think) but probably only as a field mod and rather haphazardly- maybe as a field replacement for the 3.7cm PaK 36/37, which was "standard mounted" on some -251.... There are a few pics of 251 with these squeeze-bore guns mounted.

Consider this /10? with one - see the pic posted on:

I think the 251/7 ausf D kit Dragon created could have been from some one-off real vehicle - we all know that almost anything could happen with those Germans - even this!

Cheers!

Hi Mark

The picture you've posted also appeared in Tank Power #215. According to the caption, this one belong to the 12th SS-Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend" in France in June 1944. I've enlarged it and I can tell you the "SS" marking is on the licence plate indeed .

Looks like it could be a one of field conversion intresting to know though. i wouldve thought fitting a Pak 40 was on the 251 was a more combat effective addition and fitting of the taper bore a less than desirable task. but as seen here 'you use what you have' policy might've applied even for the SS.
