Hey guys,
I just pulled this out of the back of my stash and was wondering if anyone has built this yet?
I seem to recall reading somewhere on one of the sites that this kit is a piece of poo-pooe. Yes, no? Any input? ..... Thanks

(Later) I JIm's editing software police changed my original description of the kit....LOL

Yes, the kit is not very good. Find the RPM one, it has PE fenders and other parts, much nicer. My Zvezda's kit's saving grace is that it came with a Russian uniform badge that is really nice.

I once saw a thread on TL where people were voting for the worst plastic kit ever made. The Zvezda T-60 had the lion's share of the votes. The best use for that kit is for a destroyed tank or to melt down the plastic and reuse it for something else.

I won my T-60 and the tracks were unusable. I thought the tank looked like a neat little vehicle so I got the RPM kit. What a difference!

Anyone want my Zvezda T-60, just pay postage and it's yours.

I built the Zvesda T-60 a few years ago. The plastic is so soft, (how soft is it?) that I flattened a road wheel trying to remove a sprue stub. It is now hidden by snow The bottom of the tire is now hidden by snow. Wish the other manufacturer had theirs out then. I also understand the other version comes with two styles of road wheels. I guess I am a masochist when it comes to subject matter and manufacturers.

Actually you can make a good kit out of it if you want to spend the time and money not a shake and bake kit but worth the time if it is a RARE model like nobody makes one take a look at the SU-76 by Maquette tank that I am workng on Have the Fruil tracks on the way and the Eduard detail set it will be a pretty good kit after all not one you can build in a week as some people like to do!! But heck this is a hobby not a job. I have enclosed the link that got me to build this kit one hell of a job he has done on it if you saw the kit you would know what I am talking about

But that is not the case with the T-60. The Zvezda kit goes for around $10-15 and is horrible. The RPM kit, on the other hand, runs about $18-20 has photo etched parts that include full fenders. Well worth the few extra dollars.

I definately agree with Sabot on this one. SgtReef, you are definately right that if it is the only model of a particular vehicle like the Maquette SU-76 then you have to either take it or leave it (god knows I've had that happen with the AER T-38 because I can't get the Fort T-38), but the T-60 has a better model of it in the RPM kit. For just a couple of dollars more you get a good model with a large fret of PE. With the Friul track and a Elefant gun barrel and it makes into a beautiful model.

Got you guys covered. Oh heck yes it would be worth it to spend it now then have a plastic brick for firecracker season . You know we use to be happy to just get the kit but now you need the kit which is any where from $18.00 to $100.00 plus another $13.00 to $30.00 in PE and another $25.00 to $ 35.00 in tracks geesh . When I start back on the Kursk Dio I figured I will need anywhere from $1700.00 to $2000.00 in PE stuff alone. Without tracks!!!
YOU SPENT HOW MUCH

Zvezda "star" in Russian, is anything but. kind of reminds me of ESCI in the 1970's. pretty bad,but their 120mm mortar can be made into a nice kit with a little TLC.

I respectfully disagree with you pak40. The T-60 was Zvezda's first kit and yes it was a pile of feces, but they have gotten considerably better since then. Their T-26 is very good and their T-34 and variants are the best on the market. I know everyone likes the DML T-34/85, but the Zvezda offering is more accurate. Steve Zaloga who is definately the Tom Jentz of Russian armor said that the Zvezda T-34 is the most accurate offering out there. I have a number of Zvezda kits and the only one that can't be salvaged is the T-60 and most of them don't need "salvaged" as they are good to begin with.
