I am planning to use an ancient Tamiya 1/35 Centurion hull and largely scratch build an ARV Mk2. I have found plenty of pics on the web but does anyone know of a source for scale drawings? Doesn't have to be 1/35 as I can easily rescale. Many thanks, Alan

Hi Alan,
Would you believe I recently passed a resin conversion hull part built to Mark Gilbert! I knew I was never going to finish it off, and with Mark being the Cent 'Guru' he was very happy to get it. AFAIK it is not available commercially. My casting came from Sweden.
Check the Tankette Index for plans, I am pretty sure both Mk 1 & 2 were covered in the distant past.
9/1 for the Mk 1
Chris L-S is bound to have copies, so contact him (Info Officer).
IIRC there was some good coverage in either Tank Magazine or the other Japanese publication whose name escapes me.

Paul, many thanks for the helpful reply, I'll follow up your suggestions. I have some Tankettes from when I was previously a member (1980s) but all I have is a Centurion bridgelayer - not much help! I actually live only a few miles away from Bovington Tank Museum, and I know they have an ARV there, and also I am going to check in their archives to see what they have in the way of drawings.

I'll report back later - thanks again!

Success! I purchased a copy of Terry Gander's Encyclopaedia of the Modern British Army, 2nd Edition, 1982 (99p on eBay, hardback) and it has 1/76 scale drawings of most British Army vehicles in service at the time.
A bit of work upsizing on the photocopier and I have working 1/32 scale plans. Along with all the photos I now have all I need.
Incidentally Bovington Tank Museum have a pack on the ARV which mostly contains material from the Army's Maintenance Handbook, and this might prove useful later in the build for checking on small details etc.

A long time since my last post to this topic, but for anyone who may be interested the Centurion ARV model is now complete. It is probably not 100% accurate, but I am pleased with it and it 'looks' right which to me is the main thing.

I've put three photos of the competed model here:

Not sure if this will work as I haven't uploaded pics to a forum before!

Would a short article on the build be of interest to Tankette readers?
