Can anyone tell me how the self emplacement dozer blades of T-64 to T-90 work.
Is it hydraulic? They are always represented fairly simply on kits so was wondering.
Thought they may have been just rigid arms onto the blade with no hydraulics to simplify the vehicle because when you look at dedicated dozer variants there is some complex and bulky hydraulics there.

Just interested

Scott

The blade on the T-64/72/80/90 has to be raised an lowered by hand. The crew has to get out and release some catches near the top of the blade and it will fall to it's limits. Since it's not a very heavy item, no need for hydraulics. How often it really get's used is another question. For a hasty defensive postion yes, but for a prolonged defense engineers would more likely dig the trench for the tanks instead.

Here is a pictures of the blade in used.

Jope that helps some
Cheers

Thanks,
Seems that would be a fairly flimsy device, but better than nothing I guess
