I have gotten the new country/region selectors working on your user profile page. This will be VERY IMPORTANT to update to your correct location as eventually this feature will drive a lot of custom content specific to your area. And also the flags will be switched over to this setting at some point as well.

You can modify your profile here Edit Your Profile

If there are any errors or questions let me know.

Cheers,
Jim

Jim, Warning - Silly question ahead: Is the "state" selection supposed to show up in our posts?

Do you mean will "United States, California" show up in my posts? No.

Otherwise I don't know what you mean.

Yes, that's what I meant. Except mine like this: USA - Florida

Just one other thing I keep meaning to ask. Why is the post's time stamp way off. I mean if I post in a thread than go back and read it, it says I posted it like 5.5 hours later than when I actually did. This is by no means a problem, just one of those little irks.

Post times are recorded as GMT so that is probably why. There is some system to change the times based on the timezone off-set in your user profile but I think that may only be working for new articles and such.

Nice additions to the profile page Jim!

May I suggest some updates to the regions under the Philippines? Our country is divided into 4 major regions: Metro Manila (or National Capital Region), Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Just let me know if you want a more comprehensive list of cities

Thanks a lot!

John,
Thanks. I will change those 4 cities listed to the regions you specified. i would prefer regions, states or provinces to cities anyways.

Cheers,
Jim

This is excellent, it now lists my location according to province in Spain, very different.... #:-) Jim

On a more practical level, does this mean that Jim_Staff can now do a data-dump (or some such technical wizardry) and find out where all the members are from and dare I say it, sort them acoording to country of origin, now that is a feature I would like to see....

Jim,
Yup. That will be one of the many benefits. It will also be used to "localize" various content items on the site. For instance if I get a good Events Calendar going it will allow users to display events in their area.

Cheers,
Jim

All done. If anyone has set these they may need to re-adjust for the new labels.

I was able to populate most of the users country from their existing flag selection.

So if you haven't already made it you might want to select your region/state/etc.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim -
Let me thank you for your fine work!
This has quickly become my favorite and most frequently visited sites.

I love the forums, member gallerys, and articles in that order!

In the future, I'd like to ask if you could consider these features (or similar in spirit -
in no particular order)
A) The GMT offset to work in our forum posts. (I only see in GMT time, but have spec'd out my timezone in my profile.)
B) The ability to upload an image into my gallery (of some specified size/weight) that can be used as my Avatar pic instead of only the presets.
C) an option in my gallery, or profile, to post my favorite modeling related URLs to a list that I can keep online, so I may access them from any PC, and can make them public for other modelers, and add a little text that offers a site description, and why it warranted being on my "Online Favorites List."

I love this site, it has kept me inspired after a thumbprint ruined a paintjob.
It tripled my theoretical knowledge of the hobby in no time flat.
The look, feel, and the vibe are phenomenal.

Thanks for the incredible site!

Jim-

You guys ROCK! (OK- apologies to my kids for stealing their "lingo"). This site is such a cut above! The community you have fostered is what makes it work!

THANKS A TON!

I set my regions...looking forward to the new features! Now stop making improvements so I can build more!
