Andrew,
Where, exactly, did you get the 4" barrel? Is it a Soviet T54 100mm barrel?
It certainly isn't the right length, shape or barrel wall thickness to be a British naval gun.

Not sure about a muzzle-brake - I haven't ever seen one on a ship's 4"er.
As I say above, it really isn't a shop's 4" gun. But if it was, a) it wouldn't fit into that turret b) you couldn't handle the ammo in that turret (Mk XIX 4" QF ammo was almost 4 feet long!) and c) if you _could_ modify the mounting enough to squish into that turret, you could add a brake on the muzzle, no problem.

Really, in that small turret, if you wanted anything even as small as a 75mm, it almost _had_ to have a brake. Even the turret ring on the expanded turret on this tank is probably only about the same diameter as a Crusader's and that had to have a brake when fitted with the Brit 75mm in the Staghound III.

Main missing item to me is typical small-wheeled suspension of the original Matilda, maybe a good thick side bazooka-plate on the side will restore the "look"?
I like the change in look with the new suspension. I don't know where the torsion bars would go, but I like the look.

Love these Alt. afv ideas of yours, Andrew !
I like "what-ifs" as well, but my mechanical design engineer's mind keeps wanting to impose realism on these things yet still keep the playfulness of the what-if concept.
Still, other than the overly long barrel & no brake, it looks reasonably well balanced. It _could_ use the radio bustle if you are so inclined and perhaps an auxilliary fuel tank hanging over the back like the Crusaders?
