Greetings everyone,
It’s been a while since I posted in Armorama. I stopped modeling due to work and travel some time back. I missed Armorama and modeling so much. After nearly 5 years, I thought it is time to jump back in 
I wanted to start with a simple model and have chosen Tamiya’s T34/76. It may not be accurate and all. But at that time my only thought was to start modeling again… I forgot most of the things I learnt and struggled along the way. I managed to bring this almost to completion stage. Let me know what are your thoughts and where I need to improve…

Thanks in advance.
Have a Great Day

Looks quite nice for such a old kit built out of the box.

Reminds me of those Armour Modelling articles where they build old Tamiya kits from the "golden age".

Cheers,

Weathering looks perfect. Will be there any marking to add interest?

Jim, Was wondering whether I can risk a small base with snow /mud may be a bit of vegetation. I think I will take your suggestion of adding a marking as well. But this has to come after all my current campaign projects.

Hi Steven, Thanks for the feedback. I was checking some of your build logs. Looks great. I always get stopped by soldering and fiddly etches. Now I know whom to ask help from

I'm not a big rust guy,but your technique is outstanding,as well as the whitewash and your wooden box, just great.

Welcome back to modelling Mukund. Its been almost a year since I did any modelling although Ive been floating around the web a lot lately, hoping to get that inspiration to start again.
Much has changed since in those 5 years, regarding painting and weathering (especailly). As modern kits are pretty fantastic straight from the box, it allows one to concentrate on the paint and weathering techniques.
One thing I try to think about when finishing is warm and cold colours. You have a winter white wash on your model and it should look cold and wet, yet your rust (maybe too much) is very warm orange and your mud is warm brown in colour. Darker tones of both would be much more suitable, and maybe even mix in some blue to the mixes to achieve that cold effect.

Mukund fantastic job! You proved that old kits can turn out great with some extra work on painting and weathering.

I realy like your weathering on this one, and your treatment on the running gear is spot on! I also have heard about inaccuracies and such on the old Tamiya kits. But sometimes it can be more satisfying to break out the older, less costly kit from one's stash and just do it!

I still enjoy taking a break to build a simple kit. Yours looks excellent! I have struggled with whitewashes on a few models, with results being poor. What technique did you use? You build looks very worn, however the box looks almost new. I would recommend white washing it or fading it a little.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the feedback. This build is to check whether I could complete it after so many years of break from modeling

So I never bothered about accuracy. I picked this dirt cheap on sale. Considering the money i paid for this, I enjoyed and had fun building it, compared to some expensive kits that are supposed to be accurate

Hi Matt, Yes. You are right. I will weather the wooden box more to blend it in. Thanks for the suggestion. I used hairspray over mr.color russian Green (My first try with this technique). In the first try I removed more whites leaving large patches in green. In the second try I could not remove enough white wash (Tamiya matt white)

It looks great, welcome back and many thanks for sharing!!

The only thing which I can say is that the rust on their vehicles would have meant death penalty for the Red Army crew during the WW2... According to the references, Soviet generals were incredibly severe about.

Anyway, that's just an observation, your paint job looks really great as well as the weathering

Congrats indeed

Hi Everyone
After receiving your comments the colour / weathering indeed look artificial. So I tried some more weathering to make it acceptable. Not sure which one looks better.

Let me know what you think.
