Hi everyone, I have recently ordered a tamiya LRDG Chevy and Breda and a tamiya SAS/LRDG Jeep. I really want to build a diorama involving them both. I am 15 and literally have only a couple of paint brushes and paints and a craft knife and file. Nothing fancy. I have no ideas for a diorama and was wondering if anyone could help or suggest any ideas or anything. Cheers

Hi,

Every diorama starts with a story to set the scene, the rest will follow after that. What about a desert rendez vous where both crews look at a map or share supplies. Perhaps one vehicle is damaged and the other one assists? And if so, perhaps you can add the reason for the accident in the diorama as well.

Cheers,

Matthijs

Do you have any suitable figures? If you do get some chinchilla dust from a pet shop for the ground work add in a few suitable stones from the garden and surrounding area. Other than that you will ideally need a lot of petrol and water containers and you can of course use both Axis and Allied containers.

Hi,

you can base your diorama on a real ww2 events or just imagine a RDV in the desert.
You can found as I did some good information book on E-bay.UK
it is tittled Sterling's men.
You will get it for few quids.

So you will get a good idea of what these men have supported:
Hot days , cold nights, quick fight, rain, long range, training...
Once you will be aware of that look to desert pictures, some areas are only sand; other are rock and sand, some have green vegetation.

You must search and found the environment that will inspire you.
A flat sand desert will not give you great interest but will be very easy to do.

Something that I've read about this kit is that the LRDG never towed guns. You might notice this in some of the photos referenced. They might capture an enemy gun, and load it into the back of a vehicle, secure it, and use it. This might lead you to do a dio of the LRDG finding the Breda in an emplacement and trying to load it into the Chevy truck.
Just a suggestion, with no other kits required (but figures would be nice addition).
