I have a question which I know several members can answer:

1. Do any/have any M-48 tanks used the octal tracks?

2. Does the M-88A1 use the chevron track at all?

I know that the M88 is based on the M48... so it used the chevron track. The question is, have transitioned to the octal track at all?

Yes, the M48A5 used the T-142 track with replaceable octagonal track pads. Those tracks made their first kit appearance in the M247 Sgt. York by Tamiya (uses an updated M-48 hull) and they are the same tracks included in the Tamiya M60A3 and USMC M60A1 w/ERA (look at the tab on the vinyl tracks, it says "MM YORK" on it).

Yes, the M88A1 still uses the old M48/M60 chevron track, even today. It did not go to the T-142 track. Even the M88A2 Hercules still uses the chevron track.

I've seen IDF M88's use the T-142 track from the M60s on Yahoo Pictures.

I should have made myself clearer here...M88s in US use have only used the chevron track. I also know that M88s in German use use their Leopard type tracks.
