Hi guys,
This is prob not the best place to put this but i think advice from specialists in russian armour would be a good start.

I found this pic of some heavy tanks from Command and Conquer Red Alert (for a fps mod)and want to try building a model of one (as you do)

To me (i'm no expert) these look as if they are based off of a model of the russian T-72 tank with the shape of the forward hull and shape of turret. The barrels look similar to RB models 1/72 T-72 barrel.

Can anyone agree or disagree with this?

The tank's turret look more like T-55 Enigma. You can purchase the conversion or the full kit. The hull appears to be a T-72. Since the tank does not exist, you should be able to get away with the hull from Zvezda's T-72. The barrels are a little more complex. They have centered, round evacuators as well as muzzle breaks. I would recommend having them machined or machining them, yourself. Of course, machining them means you need a lathe. You should be able to fit both barrels on the kit mantlet.

I have to disagree, the turrets have more of a T-72 or T-80 look to them. The front turret armour looks like the T-80:

Having two guns on a single turret would be a huge nonsense indeed.
Anyway, that's just a SF project so

Front hull looks like a T-72 one but engine deck is closer to a T-64 or a T-80 one
Turret is similar to a T-72 one but, as Jim has rightly said, armours look like those of the T-80
Gun barrels seem the T-72 ones

Is a Russian tank "mixture"

It looks alike a heavily modified T-80UD with two main guns. Raised rear engine deck, general shape of the turret, etc... Best to get a DML T-80 m1989 kit or the Revell/Zvezda T-80UD to work on, but get them cheap, they are not the greatest kits in the world and so are not worth a lot.

Thanks very much everyone for all the help and completely narrowing down the ballpark! I really appreciate it on this unusual subject!

Ok i think il go with Zvezda's T-72 hull with a turret from the revell T-80UD . The rest of the parts should have a good choice of random details to steal from as well!

My only other question at the moment is: would there be significant size differences between the T-80 turret and the T-72 turret ring?

I probably wont build this yet as ive recently spent out on two rc control systems for two other projects but it will definitely be revived in the near future (hopefully with a build log)!
