Got it in one.
I don't know how well it will turn out in this scale, but I'll give it a go!
Wheelbase extended to a scale 134" (C30) and new rear structure to be made, cab cut down.

Watch out using a 15cwt for a 30cwt. I think (think, mind) that the wheels were larger on the 30 cwt and that the ride height was higher still, possibly due to a different spring set up on the chassis.

I use the specs on the 'CMP Bible' at Maple Leaf Up:
http://www.mapleleafup.net/vehicles/softskin/chevspec.html
The C30 had two more leaves on the front springs and four at the rear, and the tyres were 10.5x16 against the C15's 9.00x16 - in 1/72 I don't think that'll make much difference to the wheels and just a sliver of card to modifiy the springs!
I've used the spec sheets on that site for 1/35 conversion over many years, they were compiled from official specifications so I trust them implicitly.

Yep, I think you've got it covered nicely.
Looking forward to it.

Next problem.........every photo I can find seems different! The only 'official' version appears to be known as the 'Australian pattern' with the high ammo box and crew seats behind the cab - the others seem to be local conversions with a lot of variation. Different cab versions, with and without windscreens, some with ramps for the gun, standard or purpose-built spare wheel holders, some that seem to have a purpose-built rear floor and others that appear to be cut down and modified truck beds..........
My brain hurts now but at least I have the chassis extended ( 1.86" wheelbase in 1/72) and the cab attached so that I can start to work out the details for the rear end - once I've decided which version to build!
