Does anyone know if they make a panzer I Ausf A interior or engine? I need at least an engine to fit the Dragon ausf A modified kit.

John;
Hi!
Pretty much everything one would need for a pretty fleshy crew and engine compartment is to be found in at least 3 different Tristar Pz 1A / based kits: The Pz 1A early/late kit 35028, the Pz 1A "ohne aufbau" kit 35025, and the recently-released Pz 1A Munitionsschlepper kit 35050.
All of these kits have a lot of stuff for a superb crew space (35050 is actually a complete 35028, along with other goodies for the different vehicle), and come with a really nice engine and associated goodies. IMHO, you probably cannot do better than to pick up one of these kits and second the momo over to your Dragon kit. And then go build what will be a spectacular Pz 1A "sans engine" from the Tristar kit!
Tristar also made a separate Pz 1A interior and motor kit - I think a resin set - TSR-001. I've never seen one of these, but heard that it was pretty nice - but that the interior and motor from the above styrene Pz 1A kits is better. Terry Ashley reviewed the 028 kit (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/tristar/tri35028.htm) and said...
"Put simply this is a superb rendition of the air cooled Krupp M305 engine and is again better detailed than the resin engine in the previous Tristar Panzer I Interior set (#TSR-001) moulded with the extensive use of slide mould technology."
That, and... "...this is clearly the best Panzer IA kit available today bar none." FWIIW, I completely agree with him!
IF you need a nice KRUPP motor and other doo-dads for a Pz. 1A, consider seconding one from a Tristar kit! Just a suggestion!

Here's Steven Davies build of a Pz I with interior, with all the goodies (engine & interior )
You can check all the steps he took, it's a great build.

Why thank you John
Dragon produce a superior exterior Panzer 1a but their interior is all wrong and too basic. They do not supply an engine.
Tristar provide a generally accurate Panzer 1a but the exterior is not quite to the level of detail as Dragon. The interior is great and they provide a super little engine.
Aber provides a wonderful super detailed set for the Panzer 1a but it took me 14 months to complete my model (a hybrid Dragon, Tristar, Aber tank) and not everyone would be that mad.
Thanks

@John B.:
Steve's Pz. IA is so complete and replete with detail stuff that it seems one should be able to wriggle into it, flip the switch, pull the choke out a bit, pump the pedal a couple of times, and fire her up!
The key point here is that Steve seconded that (IMO, really great) Tristar motor for his opus. Natch with some add-ons and mods - but the solid basic goods are there and easily adapted for your uses, I think.
I followed Steve's build quite closely, and have used his awesome detailing and clear pics as guidance for my rather less-involved tweaking of the Pz 1A (and 1B, in some cases) stuff I've undertaken. It's very inspirational and he provides a plethora of mods to pick and choose from.
@Steve (and with apologies to John B. - I am NOT trying to hijack your thread, here - just a touch on the topic of Pz 1A kits):
I followed most carefully your build - a true awesome masterpiece IMO. And maybe about 10x as much as I ever plan on doing! The detailing you did in the engine compartment is superb and should serve all who are interested in these iconic little panzers in great stead. I was a little surprised to see that you had such issues with the Tristar hull construction... I have done a couple of the Tristar kits (and am about to do the new "munitionsschlepper 1A" - in which I will use some of your tweaks, albeit pick and choose and probably all scratched) - and I did not encounter any hull-fit problems! In fact, they built up into regular little drums, for me! The engine and rear goods did / does have a couple of seams, as you noted, but all easy work-arounds, IMO - as you showed, this stuff builds into something well worth showing off!

Steve;
SWEET! I have both Dragon PzJgr IA versions - The "early" PzJgr kit is near the top of my build list.
I don't suppose you did a build-log on your 'jagr, did you? Appropo this thread; did you put together a motor for the 'jagr? The IB had a different and slightly larger motor than did the IA, while the other mechanical bits were mostly the same stuff. I have no idea where one gets a good IB motor...

As far as I know Bob no manufacturer produces a Maybach NL 38 TR engine for the Panzer 1b, my hope was on tristar but they dont seem to be producing new kits at the moment.
I did not do a build log for the Panzerjager 1, I lacked confidence as it was my second model in years and the first that I used Aber parts.
