I just received in the mail the other day, a kit that I had purchaced awhile ago.. a M578 ARV from Perfect Scale. When I opened the box, well all I can say is wow! Awesome kit. It sure brings back memories, as I used to operate one of these bad boys back when I was in the military.I cannot wait to start building it soon. Great company to do buisness with as well as super detailed kits!

Looking forward to see this kit get started, be sure to post many progress photos. I just this friday night finished and painted my M578 conversion using Verlindens set and Italeri M110. Did mine a Vietnam setting. Sounds like you're going to do yours when you played with the real one.

Lets see if this will make to Buffalo next April

Happy Modeling,
Joe

I did the Verlinden conversion on the Italeri M110 years ago and just recently purchased just the cab from PSM. While there are a number of things I'm disappointed in, overall it's a very big improvement over the solid resin block that Verlinden used.

That said, there are a lot of items that I'm salvaging from my previous build to kit bash onto the cab, specifically the entire boom. Verlinden did quite a lot of things in PE that PSM chose to do in resin and I like the Verlinden items better. However, the blade on the rear of the vehicle provided by PSM is much superior to the Verlinden one.

Plus based on the photos I got from Prime Portal there were a number of things I decided to replace or add by scratch building.

I'm about half finished with the project and I'll try to post some in-progress photos later.

I'd really like to see a blog too Bill. I have a gamer friend that operated one of these a few decades ago ( ), and am looking at getting one and building it for him. Just not sure which way to go; Verlinden and Italeri or PSM.

Looking forward to seeing this in the works.

Sorry Joe, but I wont be at Buffcon in April or any other of the local shows. I'm not really a contest builder, as I'm more into building for my own personal enjoyment. Besides I'm not keen on the idea of being in the same room all day with some people that I'd rather not be around.Don't worry Joe its not you lol!

Why do you write in your review "Since this is the only game in town"? The Verlinden conversion has been around for ages, it may not be on the catalog right now (not sure) but is rather easily found.

But the Verlinden kit is of no good if you don't have a hull to go with it.
The Italeri/Revell M110 kit has only been re-released recently so at the time of writing Bill is correct .... it was the only "complete" solution available.
And PSM did react in supplying the Turret separately as soon as the M110s were back.
But it still is a rather nice kit (PSM) having everything together and not having to rely on others.

Cheers

Or like in my case where I already had a completed vehicle (with the solid resin cab from Verlinden) and I wanted to replace that with a more detailed open cab without having to buy an entire kit.

I have no way to compare the PSM hull with the Italeri, and I would think it would be cost prohibitive for most people to buy both a Verlinden conversion and a PSM cab if you already had the Italeri hull.

That said, there are a items from each kit (Verlinden and PSM cab) that are better than their counterparts in the other kit and I'm glad I'm able to mix and match.

Hi, Christophe, what Christopher said....

If one of y'all would write up something about the re-release of the Italeri kit and the PSM turret for it, I'd be happy to amend my review.

It is good to have friends like that. I've never even met Mike. Ive talked with him on the phone but thats it. Very nice guy. He was in the Marine Corp. I had friends that I used to hang out with and do stuff with, but they would have never done something like giving me all this stuff for free, and paying me too! I get tired of being used by people that I thought were a friend.... Its nice to see there is good people like mike on this earth.
