Hi guys,
I'm doing Trumpeter's Emil.
Here's the radio.
The kit's painting scheme as no info on the colours to use.
What colours should I use ? the buttons & dials have some specific colours ? I'm a little lost here...
So far it has a coat of matt black.

John;
Hi!
I'm sort of surprised to see nobody has jumped in on this yet! So here I go...
German vehicle radios came in a variety of factory color-schemes... Crew did NOT typically paint them or alter them.
Radio sets were mounted in racks - racks were typically painted in the current interior color - for open-top SPG, this would be the exterior base color (usually either dunkelgrau or dunkelgelb). For closed tanks - usually painted interior "elfinbein".
Radio fronts could be different color from the case.
Dials were mostly black on white, but there were some yellow and green indicator lights, and usually black or brown "bakelite" connector fittings (jack sockets) for head-phones, mics, etc. Most radio antenna cables were black. Headphone and mic cables were black or brown (mostly with woven outer casing).
Several very nice pictures of different types of vehicle radios may be seen at various sites - see the sites below for many!

Thanks for asking this question, John. I'll be painting a few German radios soon and needed the colors.
Bob: Thank you for the info.

Good thing as you can barely see the radio with it's position tucked up there in the corner.
I plan just some silver dots and push forward on mine.
Too bad it's so small and hardly noticeable... like the rest of the equipment. Not a great AFV to display all our hard work.
Are you planning any AM tracks for it John? I'd like to but think I'll see how the kits look first, then later may decide. I'm getting nickeled and dime to death on these AM parts!
Just got some stuff in for my Dicker Max and Grasshopper kits for my other TD builds. I knew the Max had an aluminum barrel but Voyagers Models muzzle brakes and resin mantlets are too cool to pass up. Got it for my StuG Campaign too and might look into one for the Ausf.E!

I know that radio is hardly visible, I wanted to add some wiring and a pair of headphones (if I have them in stash).
On the Emil, no more AM parts, just the metal gun barrel, I'll use the kit tracks.
On the other builds I try to get some AM gun barrels if it's available and at a reasonable price tag..

Let me know where to score on a set of German Headphones. That sounds like a good idea to hang on the right side of the radio so it can be seen.

That was my idea. I'll check my stash for one, I think I might have one.
I won't get an AM set.
