can any body tell me what kind of tank is a Luchs
cause i saw the pic of in the Rivet Review Board
it kinda looks like a panzer so i would love to know about this luchs.
where it was used and what years in the war

Luchs is a Panzer II L. Luchs means 'lynx' ,referring to the tanks high speed and maneuverability. It was a light recon tank, used in the early part of the war...not sure when they left service. If I remember correctly it was one of the fastest tanks of WWII.

According to my refs, the Luchs was a light reconnaissance tank, designation Pz. II Ausf. L (Sd. Kfz. 123). 100 were produced between Sept. 1943 and Jan. 1944. I don't have any handy info on its combat use.

BTW, "panzer" simply means "tank" in German.

German light tank PNZR II L. Used for recon as it only mounted a 20mm I believe. I think the Germans presently have a Luchs in service as an armored car
