I have heard a lot about using Castrol Super Clean degreaser (CSC) to strip paint from models, but I'm still a bit confused about it. Does it melt plastic? Websites show people leaving models in the stuff overnight but common sense (it melts your SKIN) and people who have experience using it for its intended purpose say it'll turn that shiny model into goo, along with its paintjob! Also, does any old degreaser work for this, or does it HAVE to be CSC? It's hard to find where I live, and pretty expensive here as well..... Thanks for any replies and help!

I have left models in CSC for a week with no ill efects. It took off all the paint but did not harm the plastic at all. You are right about it being hard on the hands. Wear gloves if you are going to get into it with your hands.

I've also left a model in for several days with no damage to the model itself
