A good start here. Can you explain what the concept is for your dio, ie all Polish figs, any equipment, or German figs, etc.??? Just curious what you have in mind pal. Thanks.
Keep us posted.

hi wwh I will explain. the british landed the first day without heavy resistance the polish, landed almost right in the germans. they landed at the dyke at driel
in my dio their will be a few polish para's accompanied by wellbikes,
the idea on the dyke is a wounded para a comrad is pulling him of the dyke the road is beeing coverd by a para with a stengun laying behind the foundation of the dyke
in one cornor a para is unpacking his wellbike and on the other side near the road 2 para's are lifting their wellbike over the picked fence along the dyke
the pics below will light up what Im trying to make I hope :-)

Howdy zero,
Sounds like a great dio idea you have there! The Mk I Welbikes are a very nice touch indeed. Will you be scratching those or?

Good start, Juul. You're the first to show actual progress work, and that's the main purpose of a campaign, isn't it ?
At this point I would like to ask EVERYONE to explain a bit about the technical aspects of their dio building when they post about their progress, with or without pictures.
In this case I can imagine that the blue parts are styrofoam. Where did you get that ?
What is the ground material ? Plaster ? What are the small pebbles ?
These things may inspire us and help newbies set their first steps.
Now about your dio.
1. I think you'll get into problems when you start detailing the corners. You may want to make sure the dyke goes all the way into the corners of your dio. Cutting off a few cm of the sides would be one solution, but that makes your dio smaller. So you need to add some of that blue product into the corners and beef it up till the dyke neatly goes all the way into the corners.
When that is completely done and cut to size, you add the plaster or other agent to sculpture this into a landscape.
2. By using a nice square block to support that dyke, you get a ... nice square dyke. You may consider to snip off the corners of that and model it a bit. It never hurts to make one or both ends a bit higher, or heighten the middle a bit. That gives some extra dimension to your dio. In real life (except maybe in Holland, true enough) things are not nice and flat...
3. I would suggest you fully model the blue underlayer, cut it nicely to size, etc. Only then start adding the plaster or other filler.
4. Since you already got this far, I'd suggest you trim the corners in such way that the side of your dio is nice and even. Then add some extra blue stuff and extend your dyke into the
corners. Try to work a bit on those dyke top edges : that dyke looks just a bit too flat.
5. You may want to glue that blue stuff on a wooden (or other hard) base. If you build on styrofoam without this support, your base may break.
You have still got a lot to do, but this is a good base to start.
The pictures you have there are a wonderful inspriation. To make this work, you'll need to make grass (have you thought of how to do that) and barbed wire (several options to do that as well).
