Hi all,
today my M47 won a Gold in 1/35 armour section at the Statica 2003 contest organized by the Mediolanum Modeling Club that was held at the Novegro Exibitions Area in Milan.
At the end of the show I saked the head judge why they've chosen the M47 instead of the Centauro and they told me that "the rules did not allow to give two gold to the same person in the same category and that one of the judges served in that very regiment - the Cavalleggeri di Lodi - so they decided to reward it".
I'm very happy and I want to thank you Armorama fellas, who "pushed" me to paint the M47 (maybe some of you remember the poll I made several time ago...) and set-up the "cold War Cook-Off" Campaign for which I built the Centauro.
Ciao

Congratulations, well deserved!
Can I just ask a brief question about the Centauro? Is this vehicle used exclusively with the Italian Armed Forces or, was it exported to Spain as well? The reason I'm asking is that i'm damn sure I saw the same vehicle (or something very similar) in a military parade a few weeks ago... Once again congratulations and here, have some pigs: (++) (++) (++) (++) (++) (++) Jim

Excellent work.
I am also impressed with the groundwork you used onyour bases...most people leave them blank or very plain. Nice to see the extra touch.

Way to go Fabio those are two outstanding builds, and it's nice to get recognized at a competition.

Jim you're right this is a pic of a Spanish Centauro:
The Italian Army also provided the B1 to the US Army for evaluation purposes. This is a pic of one of these with Italian markings and US crew in Fort Lewis:
I do not think the US are going to buy them, I wont do it, but I think they are evaluating the possibility to fit its turret on a LAV or something else. Rob can be for sure much more precise about it...

The groundwork is what I call "minimalist grounwork" just enough not to leave the model on bare wood (or something else) and not to distract the observer from the model itself...

Fabio
I distinctly remember both these models as they are show stoppers. Congrats on your gold-----very well deserved for a wonderful modeler.
Ooohrahh!!!

Congratulations Scoccia... well and truely deserved! Lovely kits and indeed the ground work does help them along!
It may be minimalist, but what could you add to it, to improve it? Nothing. Just perfect. This is also the sign of a good modeller ... Knowing when enough is enough. Well done!

A hearty "Congrats!" to you Fabio! It's always great to see a fellow 'brethren' get some well deserved kudos!!!!!!!!
Tread.
BTW, which kit is the Centauro? And if it's who I think it is, how was it to build?

Congrats from America, they look nice.
Myabe when you find the time - add a little walk through of your build process, and a review of the kits you started with.
Congratulations

LOLOL....thx Fabio. I apparently worded my question wrong. I meant, which company manufactured the Centauro kit itself? No problem though, I read thru the build-up article so, now I know. Thx again.
