Friends.... this is an update on how things go with my entry for the RMG Campaign. I had a rocket start...I'm having energy bursts all the time...creativity flows.......
Below you can see the pictures of my work in progress. The scene depics a shadowbox of the cellar in the Hartenstein Hotel, what was the HQ of the 1st. Airborne Division (British). In the scene Roy Urquhart gathered his remaining brigade commanders and told them about the withdrawal that was going to take place later that day..... He told them "We are to clear out tonight".... This will also be the title for my entry.
The 1:1 scale diorama in the cellars of the Hartenstein Hotel
The Base
The Ceiling
A Detail of the Ceiling...everything is real wood, hand made and hand painted
The Floor
All the current parts put together
What you see on the pictures is the inner part of the shadowbox... there will be an outher part and special lighting to make this something special.
I would love to know what you think of this so far......

Sorry Tread,
I wish it was
No it's a 1:1 scale diorama in the former Division HQ in the Hartenstein Hotel in Oosterbeek, The Netherlands. The Hartenstein Hotel is nowadays the airborne museum that remembers the battle of 1944. If all goes well my 1/35 will be equally as beautiful as the original

Well Eagle, from both looking at your progress so far on the dio settting, and already being an avid admirerer of your excellent Fig work, I don't doubt for an instant that that is precisely what will happen!!!

Mooie start, Danny.

That is coming along really well! You've been busy these last few days! Impressive.
Plan ahead - it looks like it's going to be dark in there once its buttoned up - are you going to hang a 'wheet seed' bulb from the celing that really works?

That's a great start !
I'm a bit surprised by the window on the left... windows, in the cellars I know are pretty high and small.

Hehe....I should have had this idea with the Window of War Campaign
PenPen,
As I was explaining to GF (stupid thing I did it in Dutch).....
The Cellar is only partly below the surface.... when you look at the picture of the actual Hotel as it is nowadays (and as it was 60 yrs ago) you'll notice a dark "hole" in the bottom right corner of the photo.
That dark corner is the actual window.... a window that also can be seen over the shoulder of the General in the 1:1 diorama (picture 1 of this thread). The cellar is only party below the surface because.....the bottom floor of the hotel is 1.5 meter above the surface.....
Like I said to GF before....The window was there ...... is there....and will stay there #:-)
