I don't have any pictures to show you any progress. But I am going to share my plans with you. I am going to build the hotel Sionshof that is located just outside of the city of Nijmegen. According to some books and websites this hotel was the end of the Hell's Highway this hotel was also the place were the 82 airborne met the scouts group of the guards’ armored division. My plan is to build a part of the hotel with two Jeep's in front of it and some British vehicles parked alongside the road. And a Universal carrier just leaving the scene with some British soldiers and a Dutch civilian in it. This Dutch civilian is Jan van hoof a member of the Dutch resistance and he is responsible for saving the bridge a cross the Waal. The scene I am trying to make is after this event as he leads a scout group to the bridge. The Universal carrier he was in catches fire in the city of Nijmegen. The Germans capture Jan van hoof and he is tortured and killed at the spot where they have captured him. (I am think of naming the diorama last Hours of a Hero)
Techniques I am going to use
I am going to shape the base with some kind of foam used for isolation of houses
I am going to apply siflor grasses on the bases (They are really expensive but the look so good!)
I am going to make trees with iron wire tree paste and some foliage
Build vehicles
And I am going to try to paint figures with oil paint (I Never did that before)
I am sorry that I was not able to show you any in progress photo's I will try to get some on the web as soon as possible. Any tips on the techniques or comment on the scene are welcome.

Sounds like a nice diorama in the works. I like the idea of putting in some resistance fighters. I've read about how they were used and its a nice touch.
If you are using oils for the first time I would recommend that you start EARLY. The drying time and time between colors can really lengthen the finish time. One tip (if needed) on speeding up drying time is to leave the subject under a lamp over night . The heat and light will speed things along.

Freekster,
don't lt the drying time of the paint scare you off.... as a matter of fact this give you much more freedom to produce a "perfect face". Oils are so much more easy to blend compared to Enamels and Acrylics.... . So don't just turn your back on oils because of the drying time.....

Good move Freek.... if you have any questions, you can always ask Gino (violentG) and offcourse you will have to read his article posted on Armorama prior to painting
