When the Late Production Panthers (MAN with the steel rimmed wheel at the last station) were built, was the paint over the base color field applied?
And when doing so, they were painting over tools, spare tracks and such... right?
I've seen actual video of this being done (painting in the field) but never any evidence of accessories being painted over. No color plates or museum pieces duplicated this.
Any help or suggestions?

From mid September til the end of the war all 3 factories producing Panthers shipped them to the troops with a factory painted camoflage finish. There were variations to these schemes, but I would not expect to see and have not seen any evidence of field applied camo to any late war Panthers. There were only a very small number of MAN Panthers produced with the steel wheel on the last station.
