Friends,
Today I stared to work on a door and figured this would make a nice step-by-step article. Therefore I will make pics at each step on the way and post them in this topic...So if you feel as a newbie, then get back here at a regular base to learn how you make a door of your own.
Step 1 :
You need a piece of wood, plasticard or cardboard, that fits on the inside of the hole in the wall. I used Abachi-wood for this part, since it's hard and easy to cut. Next to that I love the fine grain it has. Abachi wood is used most of the times to make decks on model ships, but it is excellent for wooden objects in our hobby too, although it is quite more expensive than Balsa wood.
The text for the other steps will follow shortly...
A simple square piece of wood
The ruler shows centimeters
Checking and visualizing the size
Glue both parts when using balsa, using the right glue
Detail of both glued parts
The first plank is in place
The other planks are prepared
The planks that run horizontal are glued in place
Checking and visualizing the looks.....again
The door in it's place
Well..that's it so far
To be continued..................

Danny,
Nice article.
One thing that is hitting me when see the last photo - I feel 10 feet tall. With the location of the camera it makes me feel very tall, almost looking along the raffters.
It could just be me, it could be because there is nothing in the room yet. Just looking ahead to final photo time. You may want to get a photographers opinion on location to take photos?

Guys,
I decided to do a nice little article called "the making of... A Door". It will be published later this week.... I'll let you know when it's out there. I planned to do it in both Dutch and English.
