So, as I try to wrap up my OIF M113A3 I am thinking of doing an M3A3 ODS Cavalry Bradley. All I know is that the rear ramp does not have the firing ports? of the IFV. What other differences are there between the exteriors of the IFV and CFV?
I plan on going to AMPS East in a couple of weeks and want to try and pick up what I need for the project.
This will be a 3/7 Cav 3rd ID vehicle from OIF1.

The other major external difference is the top TOW loading hatch is redesigned with the periscopes relocated from the top of the roof behind the hatch to on top of the hatch, with the hatch reshaped.
You can see the reshaped hatch on Jurgen's recent M3A1 build.
Other than that, the rest is pretty much the same as a standard M2A2 Bradley.
Also of note, for the Bradley you are talking about (3 ID, '03 Invasion of Iraq), it would have been an M3A2 ODS CFV.

Thanks Gino. I suppose I will need the Tamiya ODS kit and I guess that only has crappy rubber band tracks. Are their AM tracks available?

AFV Club makes some "Big Foot" track links :

Academy makes some earlier pattern track links (set #1353):
IIRC, Friul has released both variants in metal.

The AFV Club "Bigfoot" tracks are the ones you want to get. They are great too.

It seems I need the Blast suspension kit too. But I tried to go on their site and order it and it seems to be out of production. It has the correct sprocket and shock absorbers too. Does anybody else carry Blast products?

The Hobby Fan AAVP 7 sprocket and suspension set also works with the tracks. I have both the AFV Club tracks and the resin Hobby Fan set and the tracks lay perfect against the sprocket.

John, I will be doing Sgt Dillard Johnson's 3/7 Cav Bradley. I was at the museum a couple of weeks ago and saw his spall vest. I read about his accomplishments in On Point.
He had an MCD similar to the Marine tanks of the time. A large extended shelf for it will need to be scratched. Not to mention all the stuff noted in Vodnik's article. The inspiration noted above will keep me going.

Thanks Matt. That solid sprocket in the kit bothers me though. And it is much too flat. I'd like to replace it and get those shock absorbers too since some of the panels will be up - on the rear, and at least the right front one went missing. So, the shock absorbers will be noticeable.

Robert,
Email me your address. I beleive I have an extra pair of Fruil sprockets, plus a bunch of extra parts and photo etch and it's yours if you want. I will let you know later this evening on exactly what I have left. I know I have an Acedemy M2A0 Bradley kit that I will never build that you can use for parts if needed.
