I've just been reading a book about my favourite vehicle, the Sd.Kfz.9. And there are a couple of pics in the book wearing a combination of uniforms. But I can't find any officers wearing the crusher cap. As they're all wearing the side cap. If I was to depict a crew member of one of my Sd.Kfz.9's wearing a crusher cap, would I be wrong in doing so? TIA

By 'crusher cap', do you mean the field cap with visor? I think they were issued in 1943, so it depends on what year you are modeling. Of course, side caps continued to be worn until the end of the war.

It's highly likely that only enlisted and NCOs were the actual assigned tractor crews. I doubt an officer would be part of the vehicle's complement.

Is it possible? Sure. But above is an explanation why you see few officers around SdKfz 9 crews

Darren, an officer would not likely be wearing the same uniform as an enlisted man, either. Caps aren't your major problem here.

Thanx Bill. But as has been pointed its doubtful an Officer wouldn't be part of an Sd.Kfz.9 crew. It would be enlisted men and NCO's. So I'll go with that. I have pics of crew uniforms I can work from. Thanx to the guys who contributed.
