Hi, I want to present my last model to the community. This used to be very old kit from Zvezda and I spent 9 month to make it look like the real BA. I used walkarounds and measurements of surviving BA, wartime photos and advises of my friends.
So, this was my starting position
This is results of my construction work
And finally:

Wow....
What can I say. Superb
Thanks for sharing. The weathering, Burnt out tyre, Ash and the rust are spot on. The broken headlamp is a nice touch. Love the finish.
Have a Great Day

This is stunning work. I like what you have done to the Ba. Very inspirational. I can only hope mine comes out half as good. Can you give a bit of a rundown on what you changed? The pictures are clear but you definitely did your homework. Would love to learn more.
Also awesome job on the paint. The weathering. The burn effects and the whole diorama is just perfect.

They are in Russian but they have a lot of pictures. And Google Translate will help you Of course, I will try to answer on you questions about BA.
But, what modification of BA you want to know more about? BA-10A or BA-10M?

So guys, i'm sure you've already known, but to understand how fantastic it's been the Andei's job, you should know how bad it's the Zvezda kit. I have IT in my stash, and I'd say that it's a really Cr***y model. Maybe one of the worst fit which I've ever seen! I've bought it just because it was the only game in town. I REALLY hope to make a similar jobs on mine.
Thanks for the build log Andei and congrats indeed again!

Thanks a lot for sharing the links. Even though they are in Russian I'm quite good at reading pictures. You certainly have done an amazing job there. I saved the links to my favorites and in time I will print them at my work to put them in the box untill I will be ready to take on the work of it.
I have the Eastern express kit of the BA10 I believe it is the same as the Zvezda kit. Not sure if I built it as an A or an M. Are there great differences between the 2?

Very wonderful. I love the second photo, before it's painted... that made me literally lean forward in my chair to get nearer the monitor, it's so crazy looking. Also a great touch with the half-incinerated tyre.

in brief
This is BA-10A
1) BA-10A had internal fuel tanks, BA-10M - external on the shelves. So, for BA-10A shelves must be empty. The shelf design was different
2) Triangular bracket (holders for overall tracks) only for BA-10A
3) BA-10A had no armor plate on thr front MG
4) BA-10A had fuel tank caps on the roof. BA-10M didn't
5) BA-10A hull had strips above the vertical weld BA-10M didn't.
This is BA-10M
1) there arefuel tanks on the shelves
2) on hull there are no strips above the vertical weld
3) 3 support plates for overall tracks (BA-10A didn't have these plates)
4) Most of BA-10M didn't have rear tool box. But for some reason some of them had this box.
One more BA-10M
6) armor plate on the front MG
7) no fuel tank caps on the roof
Kit from Eastern Expres is the same Zvezda kit. They are both terrible. For now I recomend to get GAZ-AAA from MiniArt to use chassis and engine for BA. But weels in MiniArt kit don't fit for BA

...bad news indeed! I've already bought them because I'd have liked to use them on my BA-10
What's the problem with them?

They were never used on BA There are only two photos of BA served in RKKA (dated 1942) with "MiniArt" kind of tires, but not in full set. I think that was wheels from tracks (BA had special bulletproof tires). BA in German service used any available tires, even from tracks. So if you make BA for 1941 - Mimiart tires are incorrect. For later or for German BA it may be..

thanks for the explications. It's just a matter of different tread or also the rims were different?
I'll try to modify them...thanks a million for the drawing

both treads and rims were different
But there are always exceptions This BA-10A has "Miniarm" type of tire (definitely some of them from tracks).
This BA was used by partizans in 1942 on territory, occupied by Germans near Orel city.

I just noticed I managed to get your name wrong in my last posts. My apologies.
Thanks for pointing out the differences. I bought my kit with wheels from Hussar. I believe they are the same I used earlier on an eastern express Ba1. Of course I wasn't aware then the kit was not correct. I heard that after i painted it. Decided to continue and tried to save it with the paint and weathering.

Anyway, I've collected lots of BA-10 pics. I might find some others "exceptions"
