Most of the Korean War photos of the M19 do not show the interior of the turret. Since it was usually used for ground support, was the powered turret controls used, or was it more common to use the Bofors "crank" system for aiming the guns manually. Was the M23/24 sighting system ever removed.
The gunner's station looks to have similar controls that the M16 Quad 50 had, but the "commander's" station on the right had this mass of analog computing sight installed.
Any idea where I could find a good set of interior photos - I know it's different enough that the M42 isn't a good substitution.
Thanks
Mike

Mike,
I'm TDY this week, but drop me an email at [email protected] and I can get you interior shots of our M19. The M19 and M42 did have the same size turret, but as you said, the interior equipment configuration is different.
I'm back on Wednesday afternoon and will try to shoot some pics then.

In the meantime, maybe these TM pictures would help (even if their quality is not the best...)

Sorry about that, it took me an extra day to get around to this. We just had a bunch of vehicles and AA guns delivered from Aberdeen and Bliss, so I've been a bit busy over the past couple days:
