I'm planning on modeling my Brad from OIF 2003-2004 with 1st Armor Div, 1-1 Cav. These were the standard NATO three tone camo and in April 2004 we were issued sand colored reactive armor. I think this will be an interesting finish with referance pics to back up this rarity.

The base kit is the Tamiya M2A2 ODS.

I'm looking for aftermarket sets of the following:
1) Interior set for Cavalry / Recon version that has small bench seat on left side, as opposed to the infantry version.
2) Reactive Armor
3) General detail set (PE tool tie downs etc.)

I have already found brass barrel and Fruil tracks.

Thanks for any help.

Legends and Blast Models make reactive armor sets. I think Voyager makes a Photo etched verison and offers PE sets for the Bradley also.

Here's a link to Eduard PE stuff for the Bradley

Voyager stuff : http://www.voyagermodel.com/search.asp (just enter "Bradley" in the search box)

AFAIK, there's no interior set for the variant you're planning to build...

The Blast ERA Blocks are the best. They include all you need for them. The Verlinden set is missing key pieces (rear angled parts).

The Eduard, Legends, or Voyager PE sets are good for it. Eduard also makes an M2 interior PE and an M2 turret interior PE sets that can be used for it.

There are no other AM sets for the interior. You will have to do any interior changes yourself. The old Tamiya M2 (35132), or the Academy copy of it, interior fits fine and can be updated to an M3A2 CFV layout.

Also, for an M3A2 CFV, you will need to rework the rear periscopes to on top of the TOW loading hatch as opposed to the rear roof as on the M2A2 IFV.

Check out Pawel's great M2 Update article for it too.

hello,

As Gino mentioned, the Legend's ERA is the best of the list and priced accordingly; I've the Verlinden set which is good and am prepared to part with it cheaply (as I've no Bradley for it to go on).

The set is complete and unstarted, if you're interested. Drop me a message with an offer for trade or purchase.

best regards,

Kylie

Dan,
I just completed a similar build and am about to start the painting stage. I am modeling an M2 in 3 color NATO with tan reactive armor as well, I was going for a 1st Infantry Div vehicle from the same time frame.

I used a few Legend sets and had teh Verlinden reactive armor also. A quick comparison of the Legend and Verlinden show the Legend to be far superior. The Verlinden set is lacking a lot of the details included in the Legend set. I also used Legend LF1189 for the build.

Awesome guys, thanks for the info. Especially the periscopes on the rear hatch. I spent 9 years on these things and never knew that the IFV and CFV had different periscopes.

Jeff, if you need any ref pics, let me know.

Thanks again,
Dan
