For as many versions as these things have and as many countries that operate them, I am just amazed at how few are actually built in 72nd scale. Is there just zero interest in these things or are good kits hard to find? Just curious!

I'm not sure what you're looking at, but Trumpeter makes a good handful of M-113 kits in 1/72. There are some nice resin conversions out their to make even more variants, as well as PE detail sets. There are also articles about converting these kits into even more variants with some pretty simple scratchbuilding. Is there a particular version you are interested in, or is this just a general question out of curiosity?

I have to agree with Jeremy that Trumpeter has about the best M-113 variants in 1/72 scale. Italeri has a few but they lack most internal detail and then there is the old JB Models (now marketed by Airfix) M-113 ACAV and M-113 FCV but they are 1/76 and need some work.
I have an 1/72 Italeri M-113, M113 ACAV and two M-106 in my stash, just haven't gotten around to building them.
Cheers,
Jan

Resin Sets for the M-113?? I wasn't aware of these. Where can I view them?
Yes, the trumpeter kits are nice kits. They do have crude details on the roof areas around the brush guards and the engine deck grills/exhaust need rebuilding. Forgive me but I'm a detail nut! I just scratchbuilt the missing interior parts such as driver's/commanders seats and posts and other small details to mold and cast some copies.
Two M-106's??? Would you like to part with one (for a price of course!)?

Check out BlackDogfor the resin upgrades. They sell a stowage set, plus 3 different IDF conversions with interiors except for the third one. They are top notch for sure.
As for the articles, I have one in magazine from this summer. I'll have to go back through my archives and see which one it was actually in. I don't know if it has been published online, but I bought the issue just for that article as it's about the best I've seen.

Ok I found the article. It graces 6 pages in the July 2012 issue of Model Military International. Wayne Bowman shares how to model an M901 from kitbashing an ESCI Hammer Head with a Trumpeter M113 ACAV with additional scratchbuilt details.

Thank you very much for the links. Just figuring now to get one or both. Next up on the "find-it" list is the M-106!
At least the new M-113A1 Interior update is done, just need to mold it now.

I have an Esci M901 Hammer head and an Esci M163 as well that I might be willing to part with.

Thanks Charlie, just scored both off Ebay for good prices. Still looking for the M-106 though but right now there is plenty to do. Our new detailed and complete M-113A1 Interior and Exterior sets are just about ready to be released. Then it's on to the Israeli M-113 Infantry Carrier set in a couple of weeks.
