Hi, I wonder if there is someone that knows which uniforms dressed the crews of german halftrack (sdfz 250/8, the "stummel", more precisely). I understood that those halftracks were used bt the exploring companies of Panzer divisions, so I assume they had the same uniforms and insigna of tankers.... Or am I wrong ?
Thanks in advance !

Yes,the 250/8 was most commonly found in the recon units of a Panzer or PzGren Div.but you could use either the panzer uniform or the regular uniform as both were used. It is better to get a pic of a specific subject and go from there but if you just want a generic vehicle then the choice of uniform is up to you!

Thanks, I will probably use panzer uniform since I have couple of figures that could work...
By the way, I found very few pics and information on this veichle... certain sources say it entered in service in 1943, others in 1944... Do you know a good source to rely on ?
Thanks, Luca.

I cannot remember any from memory but I know there are several websites devoted to German halftracks as I have seen them several times. Google is your friend!

Hi Luca, a few Sd Kfz 250/8 with the Alte(old/early)body style fielded this gun mount early 1943.
In Oct.1944 the Sd Kfz 250/8 Neu with it redesigned body was issued with a modified gun mount for the 7.5cm KwK37.
Also take into consideration that in 1943 the field-grey Sturmartillerie uniform began being issued to Panzer-Aufklarung crews. However due to orders not being followed and supply problems, always check your references for specific units and their uniforms.

Thanks a lot, my model is the Dragon NEU, so I will consider a period after October 1944.

Best of luck finding reference pics for the 250/8 - a friend of mine has the same vehicle and to date has found ONE picture.
regards

Alpine have just released (or will release shortly) two figures that maybe would suitable. Thye are posed beside a 250 or 251.

Thanks, I saw Alpine figures, they are pretty good. I have in mind something with more action, as the crew leaving the veichle under enemy fire... I will see...
