i was looking around on the web to prepare myself for painting my KT. I am looking to do it with the ambush scheme and ran across the following image. Im interested in doing one of the two color schemes, but i have no idea what colors there would be other than the dark yellow (dunkelgelb). it looks like one of the schemes has the normal red brown color. But, has what seems to be, a very dark green. not sure what color of green would be good with that.
The other one has some shade of green and a red.
my question is, other than the dark yellow, what colors would those be and would those color schemes have actually been used?
sorry for the size, its the only one i could find.

Jesse,
Are these pages from one of the "Panzer Colors" books? They look like it, and I would assess all of these schemes as pure artists imagination. Especially the colors.
There were orders changing the way panzers were painted, but there were never any orders to change the paint colors from dark yellow, red brown, and olive green. See my WW II German AFV Camo Datasheet/Timeline post pinned on the top of this forum for dates.

to be honest, im not sure where the photo is from. i found it when looking up ambush schemes through google, but i believe its a datasheet from a decal manufacturer.
thanks for the info. i figured they werent realistic colors being used, but i figured i would check first.

I think the sheet may be from the Echelon Fine Details range.

Hello Jesse,
check this site out, it´s a german site and I´m afraid it black and white. But there is a color chart in there, just watch out for the ral numbers these are in color. also you can tell from the excellent fotos which color which is.

unfortunately, i cannot read german, so i may have to search around. with the german tanks and color names, i can search to find what i need, but if the color guide is somewhere that is apart from the panzer photos, i may have a hard time finding it. if you could point me to where to look for the color chart, it will make it easier for me.

It amazes me when people get so caught up with colours. Firstly depends upon the film being used, mono or orthorhombic film just to name a few. The lighting and many other items can alter the colours. Even what colours are adjacent to each other. Paint batches can and do change with the same manufacturer. It all depends on how they interpret the paint guide. The chemicals and quality of them. If they were painted in house or in field and what they were thinned with. These are just some of the variables. There are a few on-line paint guides which give you a good idea of what they look like and comparison against each other. No one can say that you are wrong, find a paint scheme that you like and use the colours that to you work. Enough said. some paint chart sites; ultimate paint conversion chart, urban's colour reference chart.

The paint charts or schemes with their links that I have added are from actuall paint samples. All are different
mixes and shades which shows how each paint producer, factory , field unit or who ever thinned and mixed his paint
could change the base color, intended or not. This was just
an answer to a "help question", and and not "I´m right and everyone else isn´t" statement.
