Hey guys, looking at buying my first airbrush. Don't want to spend a ton, but also am not looking for the cheapest, basically a good airbrush for a good price. Iknow this question has been posted before, but I can't seem to find it.

Have done some looking on the internet and on-line stores and the choices are huge. I know I want a dual action for the flexability.

Question is, what are your recommendations for a good quality, good priced airbrush ??

Thanks in advance for the advice !

Gee, I could have written that post. My first good AB was the Paasche H. I was able to get extremely tight lines with it as well as do large areas, so, yes, this is a great starter and at a very reasonable price. I moved up to the VL when I got one at a good price at a hobby shop closing auction. I have since moved up to a Badger 150 which was a used once yard sale special.

Hey Star Traveler

My first AB is an Aztek 430 doubleaction and it is great. A breeze to clean and easy to switch colors during painting. I got mine for about $52 US from currys air brushes.
The link is http://www.currys.com/airbrush/subprodviewer.asp?SubcatID=1&catID=1

Check them out!

Cheers

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the Aztec and had gotten info on the Paasche (sp?) line as well. It looks like the Aztecd would be more comfortable to hold and easier to clean, but htat is just my opinion.

As soon as I get my hands on a digital camera, will post pics of the GMC 6X6 I just finished. Hand painted, but I think it came out pretty well for my second WW II model.

StarTraveler, the Aztec is one of my favorite AB's I've used. You will not be disappointed with it. It's very easy to learn, and clean. And once you spray your first model with it, you'll wonder how did without it.

I notice on Bear-Air that they have the Aztek 4709 (the nice one in the wood case with many tips, cups, etc.) for $89. It is at the local hobby shop for around $150 - Wow! Great deal!

The link is www.bearair.com

They also list a basic 470 kit for $59. I'm not sure, but I believe it is the same 470 brush with less tips and cups. Of course you could add those later.

Since I started modeling I use a Paschee Single Action airbrush. It works very well, itīs easy to clean, itīs strong and I feel it confortable. They have a very good customer service through the www.

I have only used the Aztec and it does all I need it to so far. As with any A/B, plan to spend some time on the 'learning curve' . Each tool has its own 'feel' and it does take some time to learn that feel. Just an aside, most of the problems I have had with my brush had to do with thinner to paint ratios. Once I had a mixture that flowed nicely, my problems just went away( except for the normal operator type problems).

Once again, thanks for the additional info. Have current high bid on a new Aztec 470 AB on eBay. Have a feeling it will go up in proce when it gets closer to end of auction, but who knows.

Will check out bear-air.com as well.

thanks again
