You nailed it. I picked this up on sale at my local hobby shop and when I opened it my first thoughts were that the detail was a bit soft. I'm sure it will build into a nice piece but it is not what I was expecting.

Thanks Rob. It's hard to get a kit your really excited about only to find out once you open it that it's not so exciting, especially once you' ve shelled out a bunch of cash. Lets hope that the afv club offering is all that we have come to expect from them. Cheers.

Nice review of the kit and good attempt at articulating your thoughts about the kit.

I think this is an improvement on the Italeri kit for sure and not too shabby for only the second armour kit produced by Kinetic.

I have met and had conversations at length with the owner of Kinetic models about this particular kit and their focus is an average kit for the average modeller...with maintaining a retail price around the $40.00 mark that can be built in a couple of weekends.

Modelling Economics 101...produce a kit with hundreds of parts and interiors and aftermarket parts included and the price goes up and the build time dramatically increases...therefore a modeller is spending more money and buying less frequently. Produce a kit with good details without going over the top and the kit gets built faster and a modeller can buy more kits more frequently.

I think Kinetic have clearly accomplished this with the M109A2 kit.

I also have the kit and same fealing about it. While not the best quality compared to Bronco or Hobby Boss, still much better improvement over the older Italeri kits. My kit however was missing a complete parts tree and double of another tree. Kinetic was kindly enough to send me the missing parts I needed. There is some fit issues with the hull plates. I had to do some trimming and sanding to get the plates to sit flat against each other. There is still a small gap between the upper and side front plate near the engine housing that will need some filler. Overall nice kit, but in my opion not worth the $50 I paid for it.
