Murphy's Law.

The guy on this site, who spent all that time and effort scratchbuilding one of these babies, probably isn't laughing.

I want two of them.

What a shame it's not the version with the mine plow instead of the dozer version. I could shurely use that mine plow.

What type of Abrams hull is used for the ABV? Plain M1's like the Panther II?

Erik,
the real ABV, unlike the Panther, uses an M1A1 Hull with the NBC protection system and all of the smaller changes.

Hence the Kit is suitet for DML's M1A1 AIM (#35035) but will also fit any other Dragon hull (including the M1 Panther II).
And of course, if you don't mind messing around a bit, you can use virtually ANY Abrams kit available.

Cheers, Max

Hi all,

just got the monthly PSM newsletter. The M1 ABV is availble for 114,95 Euros and will fit both Tamiya and Dragon base kits.

What unit are the decals for as 3ID is the only Army unit that has them as far as I know right now.

It's just the Marine Corps version now as the Army hadn't recieved any of their ABV's when the Kit went into production.
Hence there are decals for two different vehicles used by the Corps. One statesides and one currently stationed in Afghanistan.
Anyways, there are three different options for the A-stan version as with rotation of the crews Markings were repeatedly overpainted and replaced on the same vehicle. So that makes four different marking options all in all.
I'll post some pictures of the real vehicles the next couple days.

Cheers, Max

How much of a difference between Army and USMC vehicles, I would think just the smoke grenade launchers??? Awesome looking model though, I know what I’m getting for Christmas!

yepp, so far the army version hasn't been equipped with smoke dischargers at all..
also the army uses a blue force tracker located right behind the commander's cupola and has got some sort of tubing all around the front upper portion of the miclic stowage area.

Cheers

Is the ABV Commander cupola included in the psm set? Because when I use an Panther II as base I need one because the Panther II has an other cupola.

As stated above, you will need more than just a Commander's Weapon Station (CWS). The M1 hull of the Panther II will also need the new engine deck with access plates, full NBC over-pressure system in place of the left BII box, "X" stamped front fenders, and a few other changes that I can't think of right now. You would be better off using an M1A1 hull, any M1A1 hull.

This is very cool. Gotta love big engineer vehicles. I am interested in this one.

Do you know if there are any plans to make a follow-on set including the Army-spcific parts?

Lastly, I can't find any pics of M1 ABVs mounting the Pearson dozer blade, only the giant mine plow. Do they actually mount the Pearson blade operationally?

Hey Gino,

there might be a slight chance for the army version to come out too (I'm hoping they'll sooner or later give it some nato-camo) however given the small number of parts necessary to make it into an army version I guess you can make your own conversion right away.

According to my researches most operational ABV's in A-stan do by now actually use the dozer blade instead of the plow. Think it's just more usable for breaching obstacles than the plow is.
(btw. the as the ABV can also be fittet with the surface mine clearing device as seen on Strykers the hobby-fan offering would also fit the kit )

Andy; nope, the cupola is not included in the kit.

Interesting note on the use of the same blade as the Stryker as well. That could be different.

Hi guys,

I contacted the owner of Perfect Scale Models ( Gerold Betzler ) yesterday to ask him if the Pearson Mine Plow would be available.
If so he would offer it in the future as a SEPERATE item !

BUT NOTHING IS CERTAIN AT THIS MOMENT !!!!
