Hi everyone!
I've just started this 1/35 Ehkranami KV-1 wich a good friend gaved me. I have no specific aftermarket pieces for this one since all my money went on upgrade for the t-72 that i'll build on the cold war campaign in december
Meanwhile I'll be building this one with all my scratchbuild capacity (That is where you all come in handy
)
So, before I'm too deep in this build, Any advice from someone who build this particular kit?
I've only bored the holes on the lower side of the hull. Lets hope it not like Dragon plans asking you to drill hole where nothing will go!

That's a nice kit indeed. If you want, you have just to make some modifications to the engine grilles which are solid molded, and add some texture to the casting iron surfaces, but kit shape looks simply perfect

The holes are done on step one and i've sanded down the edges on the fender to give them a worn out look.
The rear gearbox cover and the sides are up. there was minor warping on the cover and sides so i've claped them for a couple of hours.

Hi Philippe. You´ll need some net or etched grills, as they are molded solid. If I remember correctly you can carve this out on the trumper parts and keep the shape. Generally its a great kit OOB. Check out Neil Stokes site for further details

Maybe leave off parts of the mudguard? Apart from that these kits are GREAT! I've built a few of Trumpeters KV-1s. Stevie.

Yes, Frank is right. These are some pics of another KV-1 variant, but nevermind. Engine gilles looked the same
There was a grill also on the rear of the hull
As you can notice, the Kv-1 was a quite rough vehicle so you don't have to go crazy trying to be too precise with the grills
Here a pair of Ehkranami walkarounds. The exemplar is preserved in Parola tank museum (Finland)

Wow! thx guys, I had some pics on prime portal and toadsman but I was not totally convinced since it was the welded version. I think it will be better to scratch build the grilles...now finding some mesh.

These two walk arounds relate to a KV1 in Finnish service which is heavily modified and should not be used as a guide for this model.

I suggest looking for the KV 1 set from Lion Roar as it can be had cheaply and supplies a lot of photo etched goodies for this vehicle as well as a turned barrel, I paid £10 for my example and at that price I think it represents great value for money.

Do you think the pics on prime portal is fit fro reference as far as engine grilles? I do assume they would be relatively similar to the early version of the bolted added armor.

Yes, I am building all of those at once. I put the parts in labelled drawers and mark completed steps with a highlighter.
