how many times have you seen this picture?

I suppose that four out of five modelers have eventually thought to make it as a diorama ...

Well, I did, and patience for the lack of originality!

the dragon kit went smoothly almost from the box, I just added some PE, an alluminium barrel and some gyzmos here and there.
6116

6217

for the crew instead I changed a little 'those set tamiya, adding two other figures the result of home made little surgery, and all I replaced the heads with hornet's ones.
6159

6165

6166

6173

6275

6279

and obviously, I reworked a little also the mortar...
6191

then the usual base with wood frame and clay terrain:
6308

for the ammo I found some aftermarket really good from dnepromodels. I just added the interior detail of the boxes.
9776

0218

and after some trials with positioning and terrain's texture,
0235

I found the right stuff: true earth products, added with real terrain.
0497

here I am tonight. it's almost the end.. just few details to add, on my opinion. the yours?
0493

0498

see you, p.

The only suggestion I would have is to darken the ground a bit, it has kind of a desert look right now. But your figures, they're amazing, and the tank is great

Hello,
I totally agree with Conor - make the ground a bit darker. Maybe add some smoke on the bottom of this crater - it was created becouse of explosion, right?
Tank and soldiers are excellent.

Very very nice. The additional colors on the groundwork make a difference for the better. Excellent figure conversions as well!
The ammo and boxes are very well done and the scene makes a lot of sense.
There was another dio on this forum a lot like this recently, also made by a guy from Italy.

thank you, folks!

this eve I finished the frame, and added the belts to the rifles...
0570
0571

now just few touches, and the plate, and this one it's over.

now, I'm a little undecided about the title...

- "stalingrad 1942"

- "the calm before the storm"

- "prelude"

actually, I liked very much a title of an old sergio leone's western movie: "gių la testa", wich literally means "head down".
unfortunately it was translated as "a fistful of dynamite" or either "duck, you sucker"...and so, the reference to the movie goes to hell!

What putty did you use for the figure with the bionocliers? I'm trying to find a good brand. And that one clearly works well hahaha

it's just green stuff:

you may find it in various brands.

some friends tell me that mixing it fifty fifty with magic sculpt gives wonderful results, but I didn't give it a try, yet.

That is incredible! Love it! It is an inspiration. I like the idea of taking a photo from the war and making it into a diorama.

There's a campaign (app) for that. Modeling a Photo II is pretty much done with though if I'm not mistaken.

Paolo, I'd stick with "Stalingrad 1942" as the others don't seem to match the display. Unless you think mortars raining down on you and your friends is 'calm'.

Paolo -

Very nice work indeed! I like everything you've done.

I'm also working on a Stalingrad Dio, but currently
it's on 'stand-by'

Hopefully I achieve the same results you have w/ yours -
Outstanding job.

Hi, nice work. Your diorama looks very good. By the way, I found a image for your project. I think this is the same situation.

yep, pawel, it's him!

from this shoot I decided to number the tank as "white 27", and convinced myself that the wreck wasn't stopped there, but was pushed in the hole to clear the road behind...

chris, I'm still searching a good title... a friend of mine, musician, is looking for a matching piece of classical music compatible with the scene or the weapon involved.

I now, I now, sometimes I tend to be a little paranoid...

Yo Paolo,

What a very nice job...nice layout.

The photo with the guy looking over the edge is just superb

Still, i do miss something on the layout..it is now very much earth and earth color...maybe some debris, rubble, stones...to get that stalingrad look...

Nice work!
