Hi,
What colour was the US 7.62mm tracer round fired from the M60? Was the tip red in colour?
And how were they spaced on a bandolier? Was it one tracer every 5 rounds?
Thanks guys.
Joe.

Sure; but you can't shoot and roast squirrels like you can using tracers. That guy in Holland discovered that fun fact.

The elusive M995 5.56 AP linked from a SAW is a beautiful thing.

more to this than it'd seem. Chopper crews often removed the tracers from their belts just like infantry does. But on the otherhand belts were known tobe solid tracer when shot from aircraft (AC47, etc). The belts that came in a standard ammo can had the tracers already locked into the links. I never bothered to remove the tracers. I also never used tracers much with my M16 except when under a ground attack back in the base camp. (I had one magazine loaded with nothing but tracers). So it's quite possible to see a belt without them and a belt with them. But crews back in the rear were also known to be a little lazy, and probably would have just used the belt as it came out of the can. Some folks said they didn't fly right, but you couldn't prove that by me. In my book a belt with tracers, or without would still be alright.
