Well a Tiger in 16 scale with any interior might look toylike...
When I've read the rumors about, I thought it was in 35 scale
I'm far more interested in their latest T-26

Thanks for spotting

Trumpeter has the 182, is there a difference in 181?

182 is a Ausf. H model, early production. 181 is the later production, re-designated 'Tiger' as opposed to the Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. H.
Any word on price?

Huh?... Sd.Kfz. 182 is Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf.B "King Tiger". Sd.Kfz. 181 is Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf.H or E "Tiger". Two completely different tanks.

Chris - you did mean "VI", not "IV", right? Darn typos!
As for the subject at hand, all I can say is "oh....joy... " . There's so much armor out there that either doesn't exist in kit form, or only exists as a very expensive resin model, or a poorly rendered kit that I just can't get excited by yet another Tiger.

Sweet! I hope this one will be good enough to actually say the Tamiya kit is now outdated

Pawel,
Yes....I should know that! It was very late when I wrote that. I knew about the different designation for the Tiger I and made a bad connection between the new designation and the next generation of Tiger. VERY stupid of me.

Would love if they released two versions ... one with, and one without. Would keep all happy and be more afordable for those who only want the actual tank.

I've seen the kit for pre-order at 2 German online shops.
One quoting a retail price of 70euro and a Jan'13 release, and the other 73euro with a Feb'13 release.
For that sort of money I doubt the kit will be coming with an interior.

Apples and oranges. Tamiya's is an early version and HobbyBoss announced a mid production version.
What is surprising is the low price, even if an interior isn't included, I've seen German online shops quoting a price between 60 and 75€!!!!
To put this in perspective, this 1/16th scale kit is in about the same price range as CyberHobby's latest 1/35 Otto Carius Tiger I (probably without the Zimmerit though).
Cheers,
Christophe

Der Sockelshop is offering pre-orders for 59.95 Euros. This price is good until 12 November.

Completely agree, or HobbyBoss is feeling unbelievably kind! For under a 100$ USD it's not bad, just wish they'd bother with the insides too.

Well, there's always David Byrden's www.tiger1.info if one feels like scratchbuilding the interior.

Based on the CAD images, I'd say no.

With or without interior, I want one.

I've yet to see reviews. Here's the box contents, from the Hobby Search site:
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10208803
I don't see any interior parts. It has individual track links, and with pins showed in the pic, I would guess it would be workable (?).
The Hobby Boss site states "... kit is a simplified version consists of over 460 parts". Is it just the translation or are they saying there's a more detailed version in the works?
The kit appeals to me -- it's static, and I'm not much into interiors anyways. I am sure there will be inaccuracies that may be corrected to a degree one may wish to.
Having a low part count, a very good price-point for the scale (US$80 at Hobby Easy) -- why not? As long as it's not a nightmare build -- i.e. warped tubs, gaps that need a whole tube of putty, I'd go for this.
Cheers,
Tat

I'd love to get one. It'd go great with my two 1/16 T-34's (76/85). Wish a static 1/16 IS2 would show up. They'd make great door "gate guards".

Agreed, a 1:16 JS-2 (or SSU-152!), would be awesome. I'd buy either one in a heartbeat.

I recall reading that this is a static version of an RC tank, Heng Long perhaps. That would explain the "simplified version" description.
